I see merit to both sides of this discussion. It is a worthy goal to put as much stress on the CPU as possible for a CPU test, yet the attempt to isolate variables most often leads to the desire to minimize stress on the GPU. But if a specific group of graphical quality settings can be found that maximizes use of the CPU without allowing the GPU to mask test results, I would think that such settings, applied consistently, should be embraced. The problem, as I see it, would be how time-consuming coming up with these settings would be, and for what gain? Would the additional amount of CPU load achieved be worth the effort, and would it serve to alter any CPU's position in existing hierarchies?
