Hey all,
Win 10x64, 32gb ram, rtx 3080
I have a problem that occurs everyone once in a while playing a video file. Doesn't seem to matter what video player i use. When the problem occurs, whatever video I am playing will freeze and the computer itself will becomes very laggy. Within a couple of seconds of this happening, the screen will go blank for 3-5 seconds and then come back, and the problem is gone. I can go back and play the same video again and it'll usually be fine - the problem seems to occur randomly, it's not some specific point in a specific video that triggers it.
If when i noticed it happening if i try to close the video player before the screen goes blank, then it seems like I'm stuck with the problem until i reboot. The computer remains laggy, i can't play any video files. I assumed when the screen went blank it was just the video driver reloading. But I tried hitting win-ctrl-shift-b to reload the video, but it didn't help. When it gets stuck like that I just have to reboot. Forcing the video driver to reload like that goes by much faster then when it happens on it's own due to whatever bug this is.
This has been an ongoing problem for a while now, over several driver updates. And even across two different video cards. Current card is a rtx 3080 with the latest game video driver from nvidia.
I assume it's not a driver or card issue since it's occurred with 2 video cards and many driver updates. But it also occurs using different media players (vlc, windows media, movies and tv). Any suggestions?
thanks
