OCCT won't complete at stock settings

I decided to try OCCT to test my 3570K overclock (currently 4.4). It ran for about a minute and errored out. Took the speed down by 100 until I was at stock, and it still errored out after about a minute and a half. This is all at stock voltage.

Is this a flaw in OCCT, or am I doing something wrong?

I've had a similar case in the past, it turned out to be a bad stick of RAM. I'd suggest you try to determine if your RAM is good (everything at stock first, of course).

Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to advise.

Yeah, in all likelihood your RAM settings just aren't stable. Either the voltage or the timings and frequency are off...

I'm just using standard XMP settings. I have no stability problems in real world use at 4400 (for example, Handbrake), just problems with OCCT. Memtest runs with no problems.

What speed does the XMP profile set it at? If it's above ~2000Mhz then there's a chance that the IMC on your particular chip can't handle the speeds. Intel only tests them up to 1600Mhz afaik.

XMP profile is 1600Mhz.

I'm going to try running OCCT on Win 8 next to see if I get different results.

That's within Intel spec so it shouldn't do that. I'd RMA it...

Drop the speeds away from XMP onto standard, it will probably come up as 1333. Let it use the standard JEDEC settings and try again. Lets at least confirm it is the RAM settings before we start replacing components.

OCCT should run without any issues whatsoever when your hardware is at stock. This is not something you should ignore or explain away as being a non-issue.

Ran OCCT successfully in Win 8 for an hour at 4400, standard XMP profile. I had to bump up the core temp max to 90C, but it ran just fine. Apparently the problem is somewhere in my Win 7 setup. Thanks for all the help.
