Voted "Unemployed/student/etc" although even that's not quite accurate. I'm retired...but never worked in the computer biz in any way...in fact, for most of my career, the only computers I ever dealt with were in the LMI systems in cranes...

I know how old you are and this is probably the closest that you've come to a computer in your early career....

I am onsite IT support for a few buildings. I really enjoy it, everything from troubleshooting to building computers to networking to playing with toys like smartphones and projectors. Basically what I always thought my dream job would be.

However, I'd like to make the move to filmmaking because I've discovered it's more of my true love. A lot more opportunity to be creative within a given budget and actually make the decisions you want, unlike your typically restricted ones within the IT field.

Owner of two small business's.

Dream job? Opera singer. Had it for over a decade. Sang all over the place and did what I loved. I actually excelled at the singing as well as the fund raising. Had a weird infection to a salivary gland that exploded and ended that...I still direct and teach but its not the same. Almost bittersweet.

second dream job I am now doing. Raising my three year old triplets.

third dream job I am doing as well. Fucking with cars

Job: Software engineer

Dream job: Teacher of some type. Was a TA in college and enjoyed it thoroughly, helping people is the most satisfying thing. Unfortunately it doesn't pay well.

IT Manager.

CFOs usually sit on top of the org chart for those departments.

Do you think they should report to the CEO or COO instead?

Never seen an org where the legal department reported to the CFO. Finance and IT? Sure.

I understand that pays a veritable crapton of money. Personally I would be worried about basing my career on one MS technology though.

I have 17 years of experience in infrastructure as well and can flip between them. I had 3 interviews last week (2 for SharePoint positions, and 1 for an infrastructure position heavy on VMware, Active Directory, etc) and got job offers on all 3. :awe: Leaning towards going for a contract SharePoint position, however.

But you seem like such a nice guy. How can you do that to people? D:

lol. It sucks for many things IMO, but is awesome for many others.

I never understand what these titles mean when I see them, they are so vague. What exactly do you people do?

They aren't vague if you understand how IT interacts with business.
