There was a great interview on democracynow.org(Oct. 25) about Goldman Sachs using bailout money to hurt small community oriented banks associated with OWS.

Unless you provide me a link to the contrary -- in which case I will admit to my error -- the story was actually that Goldman decided to rescind a charitable donation they made for a planned dinner celebrating a community credit and bank company because the small bank had decided to honor and promote OWS at the planned dinner. More importantly, there was no 'bailout' money involved as Goldman repaid all the 'bailout' money they received at least a year ago.

Also, expressing political beliefs -- actually beliefs of any kind -- without having your beliefs buttressed by adequate factual support or understanding seems rather imprudent.

Keep talking. I'm enjoying seeing the thoughts of people who are against the whole movement despite the facts we all have that we've been raped and pillaged by bankers and scammers in wallstreet.

Seems like the Occupy Wall Street guys are doing a great job raping and pillaging their own.

Here's one view of OWS being the 'real populism' unlike the tea party:

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/10/25-3

The tea party is more what they call 'astro turf' in contrast to 'grass roots'.

I.e., the wealthy right has figured out that spending to stage phony 'movements' is effective at countering grass-roots movements.

But there is some overlap - I might post another link on that.

lol, a common dreams writter comparing something he supports with something he doesn't. Go figure...

Oh and BTW, it looks like Acorn is back and behind parts(paying people to protest?) of this OWS tantrum... and not to mention the unions.. and .... and... so yeah "grass roots" it is... f'n naive fools.

What would be funny is seeing something like this happen to tea baggers, and seeing how people like you react. But since every tea party protest is a corporate sponsored affair, I guess it would never happen.

The Tea Party isn't stupid, they would never act like these thugs.

So you're saying it's perfectly fine that they throw a flash bang in an unconscious persons face?

The flash bang was thrown at a group of people. It wasn't targets at the (claimed) unconscious person. Had the group never formed and the professional were allowed to do their jobs, a flash bang and/or tea gas wouldn't have been necessary.

Idiots would rather stand around, not follow police orders, and try and get 15 minutes of fame via a cell phone video. Those people are idiots and deserve whatever they get.

Goldman Sachs changed the type of bank they were, from an "investment firm" to a "commercial bank" in order to receive some of the TARP money. One of the stipulations of them changing was to give 1 billion of that to small local banks, communities, etc.

Sachs were just giving them like $5,000 a month (out of the billion they were supposed too) to fulfill their contractual obligation without truly giving the money back to the local community. It would probably take them 4,000 years to fulfill the obligation @ that point.

It's on Democracynow.org. Look @ the Oct. 25th video broadcast, towards the end of it. If you can't find it I can't help you.

I just don't understand the worship and blind servitude of the rich. I know most of the rich are hard working people that deserve their wealth. I just don't understand why so many of you just unwittingly jump to their defense as though they are some poor souls being bullied. They aren't.

Cops should have shot them down. Clearly the menacing protesters were a grave threat to their existence! I mean people without unquestioning obedience to the police are scum, obviously.

The guy on the ground should be grateful to the cops for saving his life with the flashbang since those people around him were just about to eat him.

One liberal commentator made the argument that after successful protests of the 60's, the powers that be since the 70's have eroded the right of protest with excessive permitting.

Excellent point, along with insurance requirements and security costs. It's not much of a right if you have to pay to practice it and the political establishment you're protesting against gets to set the price.

I read the article and the crowd did not get violent forcing a police action. Police gassed the crowd unprevoked.

The title is blatently false. Did Steve Doocey post this?

The police warned the crowd numerous times that they were about to get tear gassed if they didn't disburse. They didn't disburse and got tear gassed. Who'd have thunk it?

LOL don't even try to pretend you are any different. You aren't convincing us so I hope you're doing a better job at BS'ing yourself. I just hope you update the board with a new thread and tell us all about it the day after you've gotten yours...

That hippie thug you referred to is an Iraq war veteran home from serving our country. I'm guessing he has done more work then you

They didn't give a shit about them when they were in Iraq and were too busy to actually BE over there themselves... why would that change now that they are home?

What were they doing to warrant getting gassed?

1) Not following police orders
2) Throwing rocks, bottles, paint bombs, and chemicals at police
3) Failing to disperse after hours of warnings

They are criminals and should be put down. No protests should be allowed (as long as it's against the status quo). Anyone and everyone involved in the OWS protests are scum.

I've looked at every available online video on the subject. All of them show the same thing. The protesters were very peaceful and even quiet when from out the blue the police opened fire with tear gas and bean bags. If the police want to make claims like people were throwing rocks and bottles you'd think they'd at least have one person out there with a camera, but NO! We're all supposed to take their word for it when every soccer mom in America now has a camera built into her phone and every police car has one in the dash board.

These a-holes just used tear gas and bean bags on a bunch of mothers, daughters, children, grand parents and war vets. One Iraq vet who served twice got a fractured skull for his restraint and one women in a wheelchair had to be pushed out of the tear gas. When one protester fell and couldn't get up others came to his rescue only to have a cop lob a flash bang right into the middle of them knowing he was being as big an a-hole as possible.

In N.Y. the police department's reward was J.P. Morgan and Chase "donating" 4.6 million dollars. Get it straight people, this is a polite as a vote of no-confidence in the system gets. Next its the guillotine if those in their ivory towers and mansions just don't get the message.

They're cops though. Whatever they say should be taken as absolute truth without question. Shit, even if there is evidence contradicting what they say, that should be ignored, because they are heroes.

The cops know to be careful though. Too much violence against passive people will lead to much bigger and actually violent protests/riots. I wonder what they would do if the protesters were ACTUALLY violent. Shoot them with live rounds?

Even J.P. Morgan doesn't want another Tianamin Square. This is America where we have more gun dealers then gas stations and all hell can break loose. They're trying to call Occupy's bluff and see if they can win at least a short term local victory. Not just Oakland, but other mayors across the country are trying to make what looks like a coordinated attack to nip this in the bud before it grows any larger.

However, if the statistics are right its about to backfire in their faces. Some 89% of all New Yorkers polled agreed they have the right to protest. At least 43% of the country supports the idea. That's a victory by any political measure if they can just keep up the pressure. Considering the cops seem so inept at public relations and so utterly dependent on their reputation it looks like a sure victory to me.
