Heh. Flat earth people were incapable of understanding a round earth, and rejected the idea so strongly that they threatened to execute scholars who brought forth the evidence of a round earth in a heliocentric solar system.

Their blindness was willful, as is your own.

Sportage is right- we're living in the aftermath of the greatest looting spree in the history of finance- enabled, encouraged, & executed by the people & ideas you believe in so fervently.

I'm open minded. You? not so much.

I'm still not seeing anyone marching in DC, just in the financial and business centers. No one seems to be taking anyone in the Beltway to task on this, also haven't heard comments from you about Obama and him shoveling $Billions to Big Pharma. Is that simply an oversight on your part, or is it intentional?

You might want to check with your buds on the street, you know the ones calling themselves the "99%". Just who do you think the "1%" are? They're the wealthy. Have you read the signs, or are you ignoring those too?

What are you babbling about now? Where did Obama and pharmaceutical companies come from? Look, if you're going to try and talk about these sorts of things you're going to need to learn to focus better, because right now you're all over the map.

The argument by the protesters is that the 1% have rigged the system in their favor, and that system includes the politicians.

Your posts are ADD, rambling, and terrible. Step it up!

You understand that repeating that absurdity over and over doesn't make it true, right? You are among the least open-minded people here, stubbornly clutching your talking points, unwilling to listen to anything that contradicts your faith, running away from every post challenging you or calling out your errors. You're a lot like Spidey, only with less froth.

So, he's wanting to "absolve" the wealthy, but you guys are ignoring politicians all-together. That's just brilliant. :whiste:

The "war on wealth" will go just as well as our "war on drugs". Which is to say, it will be a complete and utter failure.

Nobody wants to abolish wealth. It's clear, however, that America's wealthiest need some comeuppance, need to realize that they're also part of this country, not above it, and that their share of the pie is more than big enough to suit rational people.

I'll agree with palehorse that the rules need to change, even if his narrow prescription won't do what needs to be done. Which is what OWS is really all about- raising awareness of that, trying to make sure that awareness won't go away, and to find the prescriptions that will protect the middle and working class from the top down class warfare predations of Reaganomics, Bushonomics and the actions of the financial plutocracy that have created near collapse of the economy and weakened the govt of the people.

What those prescriptions may be remains unclear, but we sure as hell won't come up with them sitting on the couch watching Faux news or reading chain emails from our Tea Party acquaintances. They're not part of the solution- they're part of the problem.

Seems to me your expectations are ridiculous, to say the least. OWS has been at it for about two months IIRC. How developed was the Civil Rights movement after two months? How about the Vietnam protests? These things don't happen overnight.

I'm still skeptical OWS has the legs to really make an impact, but I'm certainly pulling for them. We just need to give them time, see what they can do.

Speaking of people running away from contradictory information. MagickMan?

Well said!

I think that's one of the great points Taibbi made. Americans generally, including OWS, aren't against wealth. They're against cheating. We've grown an elite group who exempted themselves from the rules that apply to most Americans. That's what OWS protests, that corruption at the top.

Puns like that show the lowest form of intelligence. Before I insult you further, I'd at least like to make sure you're older then 15.

Really? I think they're pretty funny... Have you seen the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air one?

EDIT: Just saw this one on facebook, it's pretty good too.

My posts are fine, you're just unable to refute anything. You're so blinded by your rhetoric and hatred of the "1%" that you're nothing more than a sheep, blindly following whatever your shepherds tell you.

If you address the greed in DC, you terminate the influence. It's just like illegal drugs, you educate the people and take care of the demand, then the supply doesn't matter anymore. However, if you simply attack the supply, you end up with a "War on Drugs" type of disaster.

I know that what I'm saying won't matter to you, you'll ignore it, but others who aren't so blind may just start to see things the way they really are.

I actually saw that on a pro-OWS site and thought it was funny, they did too. Maybe you can lighten up a little, cupcake?

Haha, you have clearly not read very many of my posts. Although I do notice that the only people who use the term 'sheep' on here are the absolute craziest of the crazy. Not really a shock.

Your posts aren't fine, and there really isn't anything to refute in them. You just bring up wild, unrelated tangents like a crazy uncle at Thanksgiving. If you are going to debate something, try to stick to a few major points.

Occupiers looking to cash in. Down evil capitalism!

Wait, whut?

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/a...py_protests_inspires_t_shirts_trademark_bids/

The revolution will be trademarked and put on T-shirts if an increasing number of entrepreneurs succeed in their attempts to profit from the Occupy demonstrations.

Organizers of the protest centered in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park went so far as to file for a trademark of "Occupy Wall Street" after several other applications connected to the demonstrations were filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

I'm not running from anything, I'm still just trying to figure out why you guys are waging war on the "1%" when the guys in DC are the ones with their hands out. No one's holding a gun to the heads of the senators and congressmen, making them take bribes and contributions. Why hasn't DC passed comprehensive campaign finance reform? Because they want the payoffs. There's a whole lot of money people in the world, but comparatively few honorable men and women. You can't shut out the cash, so you find the people who aren't as susceptible.

Most campaign finance reform was ruled unconstitutional already. Not sure how you missed that.

The problem exists both with our method of electing officials and with the people engaging in the financing of it. This isn't exactly news. Also, the idea that we should just elect honorable people sounds great, how do you suggest we go about finding these supermen?

and you didn't really address anything, yet again. I've made several points, on this page alone, while you just sit and spout "you're crazy, you don't make no sense! Durrr!". Could you enlighten us to the actual reason for your existence, because I'm starting to feel that you're lost, and some village out there is missing it's idiot. :whiste:

You really haven't, other than the very helpful suggestion that we pass 'comprehensive campaign finance reform', which of course has been ruled unconstitutional. Maybe you should just number your points and repeat them, because I can't find them in the middle of all the crap.

As a separate note, I can't believe you just tried to use that village idiot joke. If what you're about to say can be bought on a t-shirt on Canal Street, you probably shouldn't use it.

You, know that can be fixed. Maybe, someone could start a grass-roots campaign of some sort. Maybe, they could go occupy DC and convince them that they need to work on an amendment? I know, that sounds crazy, who would go to a city and just stand around waving signs?

Supermen? No, just normal people. Perhaps we could start by not electing so many lawyers? Hmmm... :hmm:

Well, an occasional use might suffice, although some abuse the metaphor... including many people who are rabid supporters of OWS like Bowfinger (used the term 5 times in OWS threads in 2 weeks) among others.

Why not? It seems perfectly functional, given the situation. :awe:
