First a classic anti-union rant followed by a fuzzy backtrack, with the usual bfdd negativity attached.
"It's hopeless! They're all corrupt!"
If unions and union leadership were "just as corrupt" as Wall St or Congressional Repubs, they'd be sitting on the sidelines, whistling Dixie, or feigning ignorance, like the whole "they don't know what they want" crowd, or joining the anti-OWS chorus.
That's not what's happening, is it?
They're onboard, in an open & upfront way. If that's corrupt, then you have a very strange definition of corrupt.
Article said:Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office ordered the clearance.
At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, police handed out notices from the park's owner, Brookfield Office Properties, and the city saying the park had to be cleared because it had become unsanitary and hazardous.
Paul Browne, a spokesman for the New York Police Department, says most people began filing out of the park once they received the notices; one person was arrested for disorderly conduct. Brown says the park was not heavily populated Tuesday morning.
Video from the WCBS news helicopter showed police surrounding the park, but there was no confrontation between police or protesters immediately visible.
Police and protesters were seen moving calmly around the park, and there appeared to be no effort underway to remove anybody or any tents by force.
Some reports suggested the police had begun clearing the park, but it was unclear whether any arrests had been made.

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did,I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” -Henry Ford
I always wondered what really happened to Baghdad Bob...The police presence at Occupy rallies has increased dramatically and they're using more force to attempt to break up this peaceful movement. Evidence that OWS is WINNING.
jstorm didn't saying 'baby steps'. He said winning.
So far they've one nothing.
theres very little intelligent fact based discussion in this thread, a bunch of people calling each other names.

By court order the city has been barred from preventing the protest's return with tents, etc. pending a hearing.

Did you really not know about this? Similar laws are currently in several states' legislatures. The laws make it a crime to video tape an on duty police officer, even in a public place where there is no expectation of privacy.
I was under the mistaken impression that we lived in a free society that did not arrest you for video taping a cop.
I did not realize that we lived in a Fascist Dictatorship that did not.
My bad.
