By court order the city has been barred from preventing the protest's return with tents, etc. pending a hearing.

The part about the young man calling his mother to say goodbye brought tears to my eyes. Kind of reminded me about WWII vets writing their folks before a mission or a WWI vet before going over the top. Or the "head" of the medical tent that was treating a woman with a "heart condition" in a filthy tent instead of sending her a block? a few blocks? to a proper facility. He's probably disappointed he didn't get a casualty to add to the PR score and it's all about the PR.

Actually, there are some things that are not too good with this:

"Inaction was not an option. We could not wait for someone in the park to get killed, or to injure another first responder," Bloomberg added,

They need to arrest the criminals BEFORE they commit a crime?

Minority Report?

I think Bloomie blew it on this.

Coming in at 1am and raiding the park, putting false smiley faces like "People wishing to reclaim their possessions must provide ID when arriving at XXX to claim...etc etc" when they did not save anything, and not allowing any news media, both ground AND air, anywhere near the site.

He needed to do this in broad daylight and with a bit more patience. Now he has a bunch of angry protesters rather than a few hundred patient ones.

Get real, the #Occupy protesters have been breaking the law for weeks, unless you think it's legal to set up a tent and live in it in a private/public park in New York city? Do you? think it's legal I mean?

Yes but now if they do get out of hand and aren't patient it will end the movement.

They have built their reputation on being patient and nonviolent. If they get violent it's game over and gives reason to shut it down...

Seems like a brilliant move, imo. Stir them up so you can shut it down.

No they haven't. Judge ruled to let them back in.

Bloomie was speaking of the EMT that broke his (ankle?) when getting through the crowd.

His words, again in quotes, were that he wanted to do something before "someone in the park [got] killed". He was not moving in because of the actual acts committed.

They should have handled this better. They keep saying it was to "clean the park", but you do not clean the park with tear gas and chucking things into the trash like that at 1am. That was an eviction, not "public safety" and "maintenance".

How do you figure that? It will not end the movement. Most angry peace-nicks just get more determined to resist. They usually do not go on a rampage because they will no longer have their beloved Head Coach... :crosseyed:

It isn't. He has actually spurred more people to action. You ANNOY someone to get them to do the first move. He DID the first move. You can't play the game that way and hope to diffuse tensions.

The only accurate thing you said is "They should have handled it better"
They judge shopped and found one that valued politics over ethics, the hearing will have a different judge. The EMT was shoved by protesters, only death threats and rapes in Zuccotti park so far, you clean the park by getting rid of the filth.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? How dare you even draw parallels between what is considered the greatest generation and a kid that's camping out on private property against the law? God I hope I'm reading this wrong.

You were, i was being facetious.
It's just so easy to make fun of the self-righteous, smarmy drama queens in #Occupy, where everything they do is noble and pure and for a "good cause". Where they lie about their non violence and don't even know how they're going to accomplish whatever in the hell they want to do.

He's right. They're winning.

It's easy to win when you don't really have any measurements for success other than minor inconvenience.

OWS *failed*

They wanted to be like the Civil Rights Protests where they peacefully assembled then were repeatedly beaten and abused, treated inhumanely, by authority.

Never happened during OWS. They failed.

I was under the mistaken impression that we lived in a free society that did not arrest you for video taping a cop.

I did not realize that we lived in a Fascist Dictatorship that did not.

My bad.

You are correct that you are mistaken about a lot of things

It's one thing to disagree with a message and how it's delivered.

But, to take joy over the abuse of people like OWS (because you feel they are beneath you) just proves you are nothing more than delusional elitist wannabes. You bow down, stick your neck out and gladly accept the ideological leash of the 1%. As if serving and parroting their contempt for those "lower" than themselves is perfectly OK.

You are mindless slaves, who hunger for your own promises and hopes of money and power. Yet, you will never obtain the level of money and power the 1% have.

You must have just missed the part, a few posts above yours, wherein Airdata's own elitism and arrogance was demonstrated in all its glory. He essentially stated that the average American is just too dumb to get it, and that is the reason they're not coming out in droves to support OWS.

"Delusional elitist wannabe's," indeed...

As the Occupy movements gain momentum it becomes financially more difficult for them to silence it. When it becomes difficult to ignore they will finally begin to listen.

Or when it gets cold. I can't wait to see tent city when they still haven't reached their goals in January.

I do hope they keep it up, keep pushing. Already the entire "movement" can be summed up with disease ridden, dirty, high crime and drug use encampments. It certainly is completely eliminating whatever message they wanted to deliver.

Keep it up protesters! This is democracy in action! This is your communist arab spring!

And to democrats and liberals, careful when you lie with pigs, don't be surprised to get shit on you. I wonder why the president and dems are now distancing themselves from it? It seems to be only very far left mayors left to side with them, against the will of their citizens.

Is it actually illegal to camp in a private park in NYC or is just against park rules? If it's the latter they weren't breaking the law. Until yesterday the owners of the park didn't ask the city to take any action there was no legal issue.

People in Nashville think it is legal as well. Tents with power stolen from public buildings and all. I am going to organize a tent drive for the homeless. There are still plenty of spots left for them to move into. If the occupy folks in nashville can do it... why not the homeless. I will even spray paint their stupid logo on the tents.

OWS cut locks, break into church property, cops make arrests. How many times do I have to tell you people that communists don't believe in private property? The protesters believe everything is "ours", do you not listen to the chants or read the signs?

The Blaze has confirmed that Occupy Wall Street protesters have cut the locks on a lot owned by Trinity Church, a major landowner in Manhattan. Earlier this morning, the New York Times reported:

The protesters had their eye on the church’s lot. In mid-morning, a delegation of protesters said they were trying to obtain permission from church officials to occupy the lot.

It was not clear how that negotiation went, but at 11 a.m. two protesters dressed in black, wearing black bandannas over the lower part of their faces, used bolt cutters to snip through the chain-link fence and the crowd began streaming in.

Distract, attack and deflect.

Are you denying the article and yet more proof of who the protesters really are?
