Was the news incorrect? No

Poor baby can't stand the truth being posted about your precious movement.

Um, again, insults rather than substance.

If you are unwilling to actually put in the work to have a discussion, your posts will be seen as poo-flinging and will be given the commensurate attention and responses.

All I am saying is that if you want anybody but Spidey and Dwell to actually LISTEN to what you are saying, you need to be willing to talk about it, not link bias, deny responses and insult posters.

"duh".

I could care less whether or not you read my posts, if the news source is incorrect I'm man enough to admit it. You guys on the other hand piss and moan about the source rather than read what's being reported. The fact of the matter OWS protesters broke into private property and acts such as this do more to harm the movement rather than help. Just as the vandalism that took place during the Oakland protests reflects badly on the movement.

"Elective," or not, his tax dollars are paying for both the elevated police presence AND the cleanup. Those are facts. You can't argue them.

But, honestly, it wasn't fucking "elective." That's just ridiculous...

That's ridiculous. If the mayor ordered your entire town's police force to camp out on your lawn for no reason, the rest of the town would be 'paying for it' but it wouldn't make it your responsibility.

The level of police involvement was most certainly elective. But hey, I've only been there myself repeatedly. I'm sure in your many visits to Zuccotti Park you found differently. Maybe you can explain what attributes you witnessed that made you think otherwise.

For no reason? Really? The Zuccotti park crowd *doesn't* need babysitting?

How much is tomorrow's "day of civil disobedience" going to cost the city? How much have the local businesses lost due to that part of downtown being disrupted?

Portland occupiers planned explosives and destructive device for police confrontation. Such peaceful people.

http://www.kmtr.com/mostpopular/sto...diary-devices-and/ycnV_cz6m06GhqALOQZvew.cspx

All three suspects said that they had spent the night at the Occupy Portland demonstration. They admitted that they brought the seized items to the demonstration in preparation for a confrontation with police when they expected to be forcibly removed from the park. They admitted being at the protest during the police confrontation and had left about an hour before Postelwait stopped them.

During the earlier Occupy Portland confrontation between police and protesters, a Portland Police Officer was injured when protesters began throwing fireworks at them. These subjects denied being involved in throwing the fireworks at the Officer.

The subjects were questioned further about the explosives. Each of them said that they knew the "Ball" canning jar would explode and cause glass shrapnel to fly out and possibly cause injury to anyone close to it.

Juan Cole:

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan let slip in an interview with the BBC that she had been on a conference call with the mayors of 18 cities about how to deal with the Occupy Wall Street movement. That is, municipal authorities appear to have been conspiring to deprive Americans of their first amendment rights to freedom of assembly and freedom to petition the government for redress of grievances.

Likewise, A Homeland Security official let it slip in a phone interview that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security had been strategizing with cities on how to shut down OWS protests. The FBI is said to have advised using zoning ordinances and curfew regulations, and to stage the crackdown with massive police force at a time when the press was not around to cover the crackdown.

That idiot doesn't understand that wages would be nearly double if the distribution of income was at normal levels instead of having been shifted to the top 1%.

Not only would that idiot be far better off without the corruption, but he has a 'who care about any other people' selfish attitude as well. Unpatriotic, anti-democratic, immoral.

Can you provide a source for the wages doubling argument? I haven't seen that before.

The original Boston tea party Were law breakers and vandals too

I'll admit two wrongs don't make a right, but the nature of the protest should not be mistaken.

It's meant to be antagonistic.

is it my duty to ensure that every lazy ass mofo currently "occupying" has a high paying job?

i'm responsible for myself and only myself. i could not care less about the billionaires of the world unless they are directly preventing me from succeeding.
and by directly, i mean them personally and physically preventing me from purchasing books to educate myself, by blacklisting my email address to stop my job applications, by stopping me at the door of every job interview.

maybe if everyone changed their attitudes and stopped envying what other people have, they would all be better off.

everyone has an opportunity to be successful and wealthy in this country. if they're not, they have no one to blame but themselves.
my grandparents came here over 60 years ago with nothing but a half empty suitcase and while they're not billionaires, they're far better off than they would've been had they stayed in their native land.
most importantly, they've instilled in me that success can be had with hard work.

Yeah right

It's unreal that you actually believe that crap.

Oh there are plenty of people that think exactly like this, it's the mind of a liberal. Or more specifically, the thinking of a true "progressive". There are about 20% of the country that think like this, make sure you vote.

Read the nonsense here, this is one of the big supporters of the occupiers.

BBYT, I fully 100% support OWS movement because it strikes the right chord with many of WORKING Americans.

I mean who disagrees with the fact that govt & corps are corrupted and jerk each other off all day?

I'm not with the clowns occupying the streets. But if you think the current state of govt and mega corps are doing fine, then you need to get your head checked.

Or he cares so much about the rights of others and respects their work that he's unwilling to take from them. He wants them to be happy. Seems pretty unselfish to me. Even more so if it's directly to his detriment as you claim.

Sounds like a good use of government resources. What better use of the Department of Homeland Security than acting to stabilize the homeland, quiet riots and maintain the status quo of domestic peace?

my head's just fine, but apparently your logic isn't.
not only are they not accomplishing anything other than being an annoyance to the locals, they are occupying the wrong place.
go to DC and protest the politicians that handed them the money.

you're telling me if you were behind on rent and the govt handed you free money, you wouldn't accept?

Just like bank robbers, embezzlers, etc., right? They worked hard for their money. They deserve to be happy. Seems pretty selfish to hold them accountable for their actions or try to recover the riches they stole^h^h^h^h^h earned. Right?
