More peaceful protests

4:28 p.m. ET- ABC News’ Richard Esposito: According to New York City officials ten demonstrators reported minor injuries, mainly scrapes. All were treated and released or were about to be released.
It was unclear how one young man with a bloodied head was injured. The man was seen in video footage being escorted by police in flex cuffs with a bloodied forehead or scalp and a bloodied nose.
It was reported he was struck by police after knocking the hat off an officer’s head.
3:42 p.m. ET- ABC News’ Richard Esposito and Aaron Katersky: Police officers withstood instances of some demonstrators tossing urine, feces and lit cigarette butts at them, according to reports from the field to ABC News which were confirmed by the office of NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. The NYPD added “They’ve been throwing all sorts of stuff at us.”
2:55 p.m. ET - ABC News’ Richard Esposito: By mid afternoon 175 people had been arrested by police including one for throwing a liquid into the face of police officers.
There were at least two reports of liquid being tossed into the faces of officers.
The most serious injury reported so far occurred when one officer was struck with piece of glass in the shape of a star that had been hurled at him allegedly by a protester. The officer was being treated for lacerations to the hand.

What you're failing to understand is the protesters and their organizers have the GOAL of inconveniencing workers. You know...all day, all week, shut down wall street!

Stop playing dumb, their objective is to disrupt, not protest, but disrupt.

Unfortunately they have ramped up that disruption to shooting at the White House.

The movement was never about changing the laws, else they would have protested those with the power to change the laws.

IMO, the non-bathers simply wanted to hang out in a park with other people who do not bathe.

Jack Cafferty's latest blog post is almost verbatim what I posted earlier in this thread. The movement needs a clear message, clear leadership or figureheads, and it needs to distance itself from the lunatic drug addicts that are taking over some of the Occupy tent towns.

They already have a clear message. More socialism and hopefully a move to communism. If they don't get their way they are going to throw a temper tantrum like a group of 2 year olds in a two store when their mommy says they can only get 1 action figure instead of the 2 they want.

I really don't get why people keep saying they don't have a clear message. If you listen to what they are saying and read their literature/signs the message is quite clear.

It is becoming apparent the the liberal media is wishing that this group didn't expose their true intentions so they are going to try and disguise them with the message that they don't have a unified message.

Maybe they should try holding their breath until they get what they want

and those POS are at it again

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hundreds of anti-Wall Street demonstrators blocked a downtown Los Angeles street on Thursday, snarling traffic on surrounding freeways before police moved in and arrested 23 people.

FYI you are not doing anything except pissing people off.

Organizers said they were protesting against what they said was greed by corporations and their failure to invest in good jobs in the United States. They also argued for increased taxes on the wealthy.

Stopping people from getting home after work is not the way to accomplish your goal.

Public perception of OWS is at an all time low. Seems like half the city (the half that have jobs) were complaining about them all day today.

What the hell are they trying to prove stopping people from getting to work/home?

Couple of guys I talked to at downtown banks said a lot of staff was given the option not to come in if they weren't critical.

The whole movement is a ridiculous waste of time but in a sense they got their way because gosh, banking didn't get done today.

#Occupy rotesters chant "follow those kids" as they scare and harass little children trying to go to school.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/11...-children-try-to-go-to-school-on-wall-street/

"In the middle of thousands of protestors yelling and chanting — some kicking and screaming – CBS 2’s Emily Smith found little school kids trying to get to class. Nervous parents led them through the barriers on Wall Street. The NYPD helped funnel the children, anything to ease their fears while some protestors chanted “follow those kids!”

“These guys are terrorists, yelling at little kids,” one father said.

“For them it’s horrible. They’re afraid of all the crowds. We’re not even able to get through. They’re just, he’s … very afraid now,” a mother added.

One protester followed a father and his little daughter all the way down the block. "

I'm sure this will get the #Occupy protesters lots of public support.

Gee. I know I am doing something that *will* get me arrested... By I'm gonna bring my $3000 laptop with me

That you bought from a company that overprices their goods and has outsourced a plethora of jobs overseas, all in an effort to increase their profit margin.

Speaking as someone who has been living in downtown Manhattan this entire time, I have to say this story feels like a reach at best. I'm not saying some of these protesters aren't chuckleheads and annoying, but oftentimes a random chant will pop up for 15 seconds from three people and nothing comes of it. I doubt anyone specifically targeted children. I'm sure the author was happy to have a fresh angle, however.

As to getting to school, I mean, all of downtown is blocked and it's been a real pain in the ass. Anytime there's a parade downtown moving around is a hassle.

I'll choose to believe the CBS reporters and the video that came with the report. When so many people have video capable equipment and youtube is available to everyone it's tough to deny what people get to watch with their own eyes.

OWS is the talk around the water cooler this morning however, it isn't good for them. Even those who are Democratic voters where I work are condemning the OWS protesters for their actions that affected workers trying to get to and from their jobs.

I saw no video there that backed the accusations she made. In fact, I saw nothing more than a single photo of a small boy being heralded through the barricades, which is what everyone had to do if they have a job or an apartment downtown. If you don't have ID you're SOL. If there was video of OWS protesters harassing children, it would be national news. The cops were doing a good job trying to control the crowd and let legit people through. Kudos to them for that. They're trigger happy and nervous right now though, I took something to the back yesterday (wasn't too painful) before the guy realized I was moving through the barricades to my place.

Though OWS is a gigantic pain in the ass, I haven't seen one nasty incident. I'm not saying something bad hasn't happened - any time you have heated emotions and a crowd the size of OWS, things are going to happen. Of course anything that has a nasty edge leads, so the media's going to run with any story they have, no matter how much of a reach it is.

Everything bad with OWS is a reach or isolated incident.

I wonder what happened to our resident "OWS is winning!!111" cheerleaders...?

They won last night, I'll say that much. They had thousands out in force and their presence was felt. For the record, I'm against OWS, if anything. Still, their movement needs to evolve right now. Otherwise that's it for them.
