My grandmother wouldn't ignore the police stating several times that they would use pepper spray to disperse those illegally blocking the road.

It has been used in other instances. Once they start, they will keep spraying until people are a certain distance FROM the road, not just on it.

Now if your grannie was protesting, say, the reduction in the SS she paid into her entire working life and got sprayed because cops got a bit over zealous, how would you respond.

And please, don't change the question or circumstances to suit your agenda. Just answer the question.

It's sad when the normal liberal media outlets no longer covers OWS. I think I saw a 30 spot on OWS/Occupy Houston this morning. Of course they were reporting on the lawless behavior that caused people to be arrested.

There are no truly "liberal" media outlets anymore. Not mainstream. They are all owned. Some show more controversial things than others, and some show things without as deliberate a bias, but all are on the leash.

And enough with the hashed dogma of "liberal" and "conservative". If you are calling for change (like lowering taxes and less government) you ARE NOT being conservative. You may not be accepting of others ideas (liberal) but you sure as hell are not trying to keep the status quo...

The 84 year old woman was in the street blocking traffic, not on the sidewalk. Again my grandmother wouldn't block the street.

Surely a level of success is the fact that you're still talking about it.

We still talk about Charles Manson's attempted takeover of the US Government. What level of success did that have.

We still talk about the 5th of November...that was surely successful...not.

You're delusional if you don't see the clear trickery of the mainstream media.

Yesterday there were upwards of 10k people marching in NYC.
-snip-

I was watching cable news last night. They was plenty of coverage on OWS. They showed the thousands around the Brooklyn bridge etc.

Don't know where/how you guys get that they aren't being adequately covered. I guess you expect 24/7/365. Frankly, not everyone is interested in that.

We have people who are such drones that they literally oppose the government and then oppose the people who oppose the government at the same time without thinking that they are opposing themselves.
When did OWS start opposing the government? I must have missed that episode...

Maybe because I was watching the events live and you were apparently watching a pre packaged evening news show.

How would I respond? That depends... how many lawful orders and warnings did she disobey or ignore before she was sprayed?

My own response would depend entirely on the answer to that question.

I almost didn't respond because I'm finding it hard to imagine that your intelligence level is so low that you would ask something so obvious. It really is hard to tell who is trolling and who isn't because there's a thin line between saying random stupid comments to get a rise out of people, and legitimately believing those stupid comments.

Of course OWS is anti government. We have countless crooks in office who spend most of their time catering to lobbyists instead of their constituents. Bush.. Obama... they're the same.

I see alot of right wing anti government talk simply over political party affiliation. Obama has done so many things that Bush would have done, and you get to see the idiocy of people. They praise bush for the same actions they bash obama about. They make it so easy to click the ignore button.

Cops arresting cops.

It is pretty dangerous having a retired police ranked officer standing up w\ the protesters. May be distracting to the police and their skull bashing quota.

When OWS invades and an area or a meeting, and SHOUTS everyone else down, then they are violating others rights.

Maybe you should read the bill of rights.

Free speech doesn't give you the right to shout people down.

You didn't mention that to the teabaggers at the healthcare townhalls did you?

I don't see why "live" and prepackaged are necessarily different. Anything showing the protest during daylight is obviously prepackaged, but that seems necessary for the news channels to show us who were working during the day what actually happened. Besides, they were doing live coverage at nighttime both from reporters on the ground and wide angle overhead shots from helicopters.

He was watching the live feed that is provided by #Occupy, that members of #Occupy shoot, to show only their side of the #Occupy story, but somehow it's better coverage.

Any tactic that is successfully used by one side in a conflict will eventually be used by the opposing side. The left (usually Democrats) had been using the tactic of disrupting and shouting down conservatives (usually Republicans) for decades. When the tea party used the same tactic, they suddenly got the press coverage and the controversy that helped their cause. If for some reason a tactic used by #Occupy proves to be useful, you can expect to see it used by other groups later.

He was in uniform, which makes it appear he is in an official capacity. It is not allowed and is against the policy he agreed to follow.

It's also a morale liability. If there were police in uniform joining the ranks of the protesters, other police may question their orders. They want people to simply think all of the protesters are unemployed, homeless, and smelly. Best to marginalize them and keep people dumb.

It's a good thing they arrested him and got him out there then.

Ok, so now you have a straight up self admited communist claiming he is somehow a leader and "you ain't seen nothing yet". Still trying to tell me this isn't a marxist movement in spite of all the facts, evidence and signs that say it is? If it's so leaderless why is Jones specifying what the next steps and plans are?

I guess the good news is if they do start running candidates it will split the democrat vote! Brilliant!

Van Jones offered a prediction Wednesday for those who have been watching the Occupy Wall Street movement: “You haven’t seen anything yet.”

The former Obama administration “green jobs czar” — an ardent supporter of the Occupy movement since its inception — said in an interview with CNN that the movement is ready to evolve into the areas of politics and policy-making, much like the Tea Party did in 2010.

“You’re going to see an evolution now as you go from protests, keep the protests, but now expand into politics,” Jones said. “And if you thought there was an earthquake in 2010 when the Tea Party moved into politics, wait until this 99 percent movement moves over into politics. You haven’t seen anything yet.”

Jones said the movement is “going to be recruiting 2,000 candidates to run for office now under this 99 percent banner“ as Occupy Wall Street enters ”phase two.”
