Once the list of demands came out, the OccupyWallStreet movement lost all teaparty support. Occupy wall street wants more gvmt, the tea party wants less.

LOL

Poll: 70% Of Tea Partiers Oppose Cuts To Medicare, Medicaid

http://reason.com/blog/2010/09/30/is-the-free-market-tea-party-a

While 65 percent of union members say free trade has hurt the U.S., so do 61 percent of Tea Party sympathizers. Democratic pollster Peter Hart and his Republican counterpart Bill McInturff, who conduct the NBC/WSJ poll, say the greatest shift against free trade has come among relatively affluent Americans, or those earning more than $75,000 a year.

Well, you can discharge most debt via bankruptcy, but student debt is much much harder to discharge, thanks to the current regulations.

And it should be.... my generation is paying to send this group through school with assistance (our tax money) and they are taking us out of our jobs we could do and have always done with much less education. Corporate is demanding BS and MS degrees were a two year degree was fine in the past. And they are in charge of people with way more experience than them.... just sick.

I have a two year electronics degree with 18 years in the field and I can tell you I can out design any BS out of school. 25 years ago most electrical engineers only had a two year degree.

I don't really get a sense that the Tea Party people are particularly antithetical to "Wall Street oligarchs" as long as government stops wasting money. Or maybe even just as long as government stops spending so much money, wasted or not. The Occupiers want government to spend much, much more money and take much, much more power, which will require businesses to lobby government much, much more intensely in order to survive and prosper. Those two groups are never going to gee and haw.

Oligarchs control the government. Government waste adds to their treasures. If you think they are going to stamp out government waste, keep dreaming.

Oh man the #OWS IRC channel is validation these people are clueless. I have never see such flaccid arguments even out of the worst posters on P&N. There's zero cohesion or message. Just whining about "capitalism" and the "rich greedy bankers".

I'm fascinated by all this, mainly because I might as well get something out of the $1.7M I am chipping towards so these people and protest.

The funny thing is that unions support illegal immigration/amnesty - the "free trade" of labor.
Not sure why people would want to be in a union when their fat cats favor amnesty which grows their labor roles at the expense of current members.

Thank gosh for Walker in WI..... I'm now out of that crap and the big payed union reps are falling and screaming like the pigs they are! Three figs a year give me a break, washed up

Sorry but it was always about the money and never the people! Mater of fact if they dont get it together in the furture the system could fail.

LOL - See, money can be traded *for* food which can then be eaten.
(Then again, that would require some effort/personal responsibility)

War is just another mechanism for funneling the people's money to well connected corporations, just like the Wall Street bailouts.

I think you're conveniently ignoring the side effect that it seems to have on brown people.

The communists silence a civil rights leader/congressman who came to speak at their rally.

Make sure you are EXTREMELY high before watching the video as you will want to jam a screw driver in your ears after listening to these dirty hippies.

I love watching this play out. Right wing call them lazy mobs, the news media gives them little coverage, all while day by day their numbers grow nation wide. Unlike the tea baggers that had massive positive media coverage, the wall street protesters are demonized.
But it doesn't matter...
The protesters are the core of the American citizen. Teachers, workers, the real Americans that work for a living and don't just push money around for a living.

Yes... Be afraid America corporate whores! Be very afraid.

These are the sane and the true real Americans. The very people that built this country with muscle and blood. The republicans in power are afraid, Obama is afraid, local governments are afraid, the news media are afraid, as were the British during the once American revolution.

This is an American working class revolution.
If you haven't figured that out by now, you are on the losing side...
What will become of you?

I imagine I'll employ unspeakable violence to protect the politicians and banker types.

I like how Kanye West showed up. It only further underlines the fact that this farce has a lot to do with nothing.

I'm sorry but if you're get jobs taken from you from someone fresh out of school and you've been doing the job for a long time - you must not be as good at the job than you think. A lot of places would gladly pick the guy with many years experience over someone with a degree w/ no experience.

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone argue against having education lol.

edit: The old-man 'if you dont like america get out hippies' rhetoric thrown around here in amusing. Maybe after all you old people die we will be able to get something done around here. Too much brainwashed people from last century are still alive.

No, it's communist's useful idiots stoked by Obama and dems. Your very rhetoric and that of this entire protest sounds like it comes from any of the communist revolutions that have occurred.

Americans will have none of that, we know exactly what this is.

Well, what they're saying makes sense (protection for the middle class), it's just that their methods are foolish. What does wall street have to do with legislation? Go occupy D.C.

Of course it's going to be demonized. Big rich goons don't want to give up their spot. I know I don't.
