Because Jon Stewart has never looked flustered on his show about a subject... Please. You sound like a tool defending the word of a stranger against another stranger as such. Why can't he think they're both idiots?

Because he's just dismissing valid criticism rather than offering any reasonable defense of the parties that Stewart has lampooned. His linked rant didn't do any better.

If it came from an idiot and was linked by a moron, then he doesn't have to offer any legit comment, just scorn- Label and Dismiss! ala the great Rushbo himself.

If Jon Stewart makes your head want to asplode, maybe it's time to take a closer look at what's in your head. Both he and Colbert engage in brilliant comedic comment on some of the more asinine stuff coming from our leadership, and neither can really help it if the Right offers a much richer vein of material to work with.

He offered a retort to Jon's rant. It wasn't his retort, just a retort from someone else. How are the words of Stewart of any more value than this other fool? They aren't, your dumbass just writes the other one off though due to being so closed minded.

Btw if you want to know my feelings on the show, I'm a fan of the Daily Show. I took a break for a bit when I felt there was a little to much political bias going on, but I've been a pretty steady watcher since Craig hosted it(yeah, since I was like 11 or 12). Jon is hilarious and it's kind of sad that their reporting is about equal to or better than what we have come to expect from the other cable "news" shows.

You know what's best about this? Keep talking about it, keep running your mouths, keep supporting it. PLEASE keep talking about this, the more attention the better. It only exposes what the communist underbelly really believes. Let it be exposed, let them speak, by all means let them be heard.

PLEASE! Keep it up! Dear lord please let them keep this up. Best thing to wake this country up to what the fringe really wants. Please keep it up!

I find it hilarious that Spidey went from mocking the OWS people as 50 people standing at the corner of a sidewalk to cheering the growing worldwide movement to 'expose the communist plot'. Watching you become unhinged is quite entertaining.

I don't think it is exposing any of that spidey. IMO it's just reinforcing the fact people are stupid in large numbers.

Meh, I predicted this and prepared accordingly. We've seen this play before, I'm just waiting for them to get violent so I can go hunting.

Really? You want to kill these people? How much do we have to take of this?

Answer this question honestly:

If your child was hours away from starving to death, literally on her/his death bed, and I had a shotgun slung across my chest and pushing a basket full of food down the street would you shoot me in the back of the head to feed your child?
Short of a climate meltdown or some other random type of Armageddon, I shouldn't ever need to make that decision.

I'll be the guy with the food and the guns. Survival skills learned over 30 years and a properly organized posse of like-minded friends FTW.

Each and every one of us will survive or die fighting. How will it work out? Who knows? All I do know is that I have the experience, training, education, and cognitive abilities to meet those challenges head-on when they present themselves -- just as I have done, thus far, in our civilized society.

I assume luck and timing will play a role in those situations as well.

Truly choose between my kids and you, with no other food anywhere? That's easy... you'd give up some of the food willingly, or you'd die.

It's kind of a silly question since you already knew the answer.

PS: I'm intimately familiar with what "hungry, armed, and desperate" looks like...

EDIT: unlike some others, I have no desire at all to ever see it happen. My point was that we would each live or die using the same or similar abilities that allow us to be successful, or cause us to fail, in our current civilized society.

dude needs a fucking intervention

Well, unless his wife or somebody else close to him figures it out, that won't happen.

By his own account, he lives a great life- great job, country club membership, fancy new house, offshore vacations, riverboat gambling, lots of expensive toys, and yet he feels persecuted by people he's never even met, to the point where he fantasizes about killing them.

Count your blessings, Spidey, and try to see just how unreasonable and damaging your feelings of rage & persecution really are.

I guess I am a survivalist of some sort -- 20 years in the Army, and counting, will make a survivalist out of just about anyone.

As far as that scenerio being a highly likely outcome, who knows?! (I didn't even come up with it). See the EDIT in my last post for some clarification on the points I was trying to make. They had more to do with being successful in our current society than with any type of post-apocalyptic fantasy...

I think my skill set would be horrible in a anarchy situation. However my skill set will allow me to live a very nice life in the modern world as a city dweller. Do I know how to hunt and forage? plant seeds and watch them grow? Shoot a gun? No. I pay people to do those things for me. Just like those people havent a clue to do what i do. I'm not going to spend my life leanring low value (in the modern world) skills that I can pay someone else to do. In the event of total anarchy and nuclear holocaust? oops.

Why not learn both? Or a dozen other skills? There is a very good reason I switched to the Reserves over a decade ago and started a civilian career. Only in recent years have my various skillsets begun to merge and really get exciting. I also get bored too easily if I'm stuck doing the same thing for too long.

This quote sums it up nicely:

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
-- Robert A. Heinlein

Perhaps someone should print it and hand out copies to every OWS protester...

Learning a single skill, and then relying on that single skill your entire life, is s recipe for disaster in this day and age. Sadly, the concept of trying to become a "Renaissance Man" has been lost by the younger generations...

So if everything fell apart you couldn't take care of yourself? No fucking wonder you're such a nanny state guy. Makes complete sense to me now.

Palehorse, that's one of my favorite quotes. While I can't say I quite live up to it, I agree with it.

I certainly don't live up to it either -- at least, not literally or exactly -- but, my entire goal in life is to die trying!

Seems like a decent way to live. As a lover of liberty, I tend to like my laziness a bit more than being a competent man would allow

I have a demanding job that requires life long learning and expertise. I don't have time to go sit in a forest rubbing sticks together in preparation of the end times.

Oh and I totally disagree about specialization. Specialization allows you to command more money in this day because ,few people will have your same abilities. Over specialization in the animal world means death but in the human world being specialized just means being in demand. This doesn't work if your job could be wiped via technology of course but mine can't and won't.

specialization is not a good thing just because it makes you more money. It holds back human growth and creativity in turn locks them into slavery of the machine. I am not saying you shouldn't learn one thing well, but you should be far more open and varied. You are basically condoning putting all of your eggs into one basket which is the most surefire way to failure.

You really belive that?

Specialization has exploded human growth and creativity. Look at all the advancements in modern times. All due to specialiation. Without it everyone is a farmer/hunter without the ability to do anything else.
