Your respect is worth warm spit. If you respected them you'd support their interests.
Respect doesn't require support.
For instance: I respect OWS' right to legally assemble, protest, and voice their grievances; however, I do not support the majority of their positions on the issues. They do not represent me or share my interests.
The only thing we can agree on is the fact that our current national politicians are corrupt and worthless. Where we differ is in the direction we must go to fix that problem.
Personally, I'd welcome a new Continental Congress to meet and discuss replacement of every current national-level politician, and drafting an amendment that dramatically alters campaign finance, limits lobbying, and redesigns or eliminates the Federal Reserve. Once we hold elections with the new rules and boundaries, the next big tasks would be to replace the entire tax code and audit the function/form of every Government department (eliminating, streamlining, or limiting each of their roles).
