They have a whole lot more to do then serve people too idiotic to look stuff up. You have a lot to learn.

http://www.whyzz.com/what-does-a-librarian-do

What does a librarian do?

Today, a librarian’s job has many different parts. Librarians need to love books, but more and more, they also need to know how to use technology.

A big part of their job is to help connect people to all the information in the library. That means showing people how to use all the different resources in a library, from computers to card catalogs to websites.

Librarians choose the books for the library, so they may manage a budget, decide which books to buy, order them, and then take care of the books. They need to know the right way to put them on the shelves, or catalogue them. Special systems are used to keep track of all the books, and librarians have to know the different systems and where to find the books so that people can find the books when they want to!

So, to paraphrase.

Q: What does a librarian do?
A: Prepare themselves to be replaced by Google.

So, again, what does this have to do with OWS' beefs?

LOL - Well.....maybe you should at work.

Lol! Funny thing is these folks blame wall street for their dumb ass decisions.

If youre a paycheck away then you're doing it very wrong. But of course it's wall street that put you in this position, right?

Reality, how does it work?

From your own link:

So, the guy was laid off in 2008 in the Bay area which, according to your link, was the hotbed and time for the library science field and he can't keep a job? So either his skills are for shit or it's a case of age discrimination. To my original point neither has anything to do with the OWS agenda or has changed in the last 50-some-odd years.

Did you need a librarian to find the books?

Back to the belittling and victim blaming, employing a whole new set of suppositions and rationalizations. Anything that doesn't fit into your worldview must be made to fit, because it's right and everything else is wrong. First make a leap of faith, then rationalize afterwards as required, filling in the blanks with what you want to believe presented as fact.

When your only tool is a hammer, then all problems are nails.

Again. What does this guy's problems have to do OWS?

Again. What does this guy's problems have to do OWS?

It has to do with the tragedy of the commons, of an enormous shift of income to the top, and of a lack of support for public institutions that benefit us all, whether we personally use them or not. It's about the fact that growing inequality isn't just about the people at the top doing better, but about the people doing worse as a consequence.

You can't possibly wrap your head around anything that deep, given that you've displayed all the RWA characteristics over and over again in this thread alone-

It's you.

Stop talking to dwell. he has been told 1000x what the thing is about and he refuses to listen. Talking to him is worthless and in the grand scheme of things he is worthless.

Rewind to 1962 and a 67-year-old librarian would be as shit out of luck as this guy is in 2011.

So again, what does this have to do with OWS' gripes?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Which is my beef with OWS. It's a bunch of losers misdirecting their anger and frustration because life didn't turn out the way they planned.

Why would that be true at all? In 1962, the economy was growing, and the commons were supported by very high tax rates at the top. The likelihood that the guy would have been laid off at all because of a funding crunch is nonexistent.

But you believe what you believe because you want to believe it, obviously, making your "reasons" merely exercises in simulated rationality and circular reasoning.

We know you will. You are ready 24/7 to fight to the death. Meanwhile the rest of us who aren't busy building camp fires in the middle of nowhere and perfecting the skill of being a jack of all trades master of none have marketable skills that need tending to.
LOL! If you only knew!

Learning many different skills does not prevent one from mastering one or more along the way. Just because you're a one trick pony doesn't mean the rest of us need to do the same to be successful.

Go outside, live a little...

http://news.yahoo.com/poorest-poor-us-hits-record-1-15-people-040233161.html

Poorest poor in US hits new record: 1 in 15 people

The ranks of America's poorest poor have climbed to a record high — 1 in 15 people — spread widely across metropolitan areas as the housing bust pushed many inner-city poor into suburbs and other outlying places and shriveled jobs and income.

New census data paint a stark portrait of the nation's haves and have-nots at a time when unemployment remains persistently high. It comes a week before the government releases first-ever economic data that will show more Hispanics, elderly and working-age poor have fallen into poverty.

In all, the numbers underscore the breadth and scope by which the downturn has reached further into mainstream America.
