Why would that be true at all? In 1962, the economy was growing, and the commons were supported by very high tax rates at the top. The likelihood that the guy would have been laid off at all because of a funding crunch is nonexistent.
Nope, nothing anti-American goin' on here... nothing at all.Anyone else just catch the huge banner, spanning the whole street that reads "Death to Capitalism"?
edit:
Just saw it from the heli footage.

Que Leftist spin in 3...2...1...
Cops put that one up.
lol
That cop needs to be fired immediately...that's total bullshit.Probably. Go find anti-protest tactics. The best way to break up a peaceful protest is to infiltrate their ranks and do things to give police the green light to gas them and herd them along.

And here's a nice video again showing police lying on camera about their use of force. They show a guy who's already cuffed being held while the cop pepper sprays him directly in the eyes.
If you justify this action in any way, you're anti american. Or maybe this is all just an anti terror thing.
The terrorists hate our freedom so much, we're just going to show them how little freedom we have! This is how we treat our citizens... imagine how we'll treat those guys ^^
Did you honestly just try to claim that the gigantic street-wide anti-American banner must have been put up by undercover Police infiltrators?!?Probably. Go find anti-protest tactics. You can't make this kind of shit up, people.
Psst. I have a friend who works at an Oakland fabric company, and the Oakland police department ordered 1000 feet of blue fabric last Wednesday.
So what do you think about the gigantic banner? Is it representative of the entire movement, or not?A claim would have been just that. I don't have the first hand knowledge to make such a claim, which is why no such claim was made.
I'm just pointing out that the police are infiltrating the groups. They're being documented lying over and over again about various things, and it's quite likely that they're sending in agent provocateurs to hurt the movement.
Police are supposed to be honest. No need to use such force and tactics on a non violent protest.
Possible undercover police at #occupy oakland
I don't think the anarchists who created the movement see it that way...Rioting and looting are going to hurt the movement rather than help it.
So what do you think about the gigantic banner? Is it representative of the entire movement, or not?
Do you believe that such anti-American filth is isolated to a few fringe whackjobs in OWS, or does the banner reflect the gist of the entire movement?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I think I saw the same banner in Tehran last year... or was it in Moscow in 1980? I can't recall...
This, exactly. Well said!I think the movement has gotten way out of hand.
I think that way too many people took #occupy as a Que to air any and all grievances they may have. This has only dilluted the real movement.
Bailed out banks giving CEO's bonuses bigger than what most people will make in the next 10-15 years is wrong... it's bullshit. If your bank is bankrupt, how can you possibly give guys who obviously failed at their job such bonuses?
This is one a key #occupy issue for me. It's not even something you can debate. It's just wrong.
There are "hippies" out there crying about THEIR student loans or THEIR foreclosed house. The movement isn't about one person getting screwed.
I think #occupy is supposed to be about everybody getting screwed. not just " poor people ". It's about corporations that bribe politicians to write laws for them ( happens all the time ). It's about those same politicians leaving office, and going to work for the corporations who had been bribing them while they were in office.
It's about the people who run our country that do so for profit. There are far too many congressman and senators who are obligated to serve these corporations that give them so much money.
This conflict of interest needs to be dealt with. We don't need law makers who are in debt to different corporations. They work for the people. Not for corporations.
Death to Capitalism does sound a bit extreme. I certainly wouldn't be holding a sign that said that. But people have the freedom of speech.
Maybe to them, capitalism is all of the stuff I touched on above. We don't need to kill capitalism. But people with money need to be held accountable for their actions just like anybody else.
When the next Rush Limbaugh gets caught with a 20 year stockpile of synthetic heroin, he should goto jail like any normal person would. You feel me? There have been no arrests for any of the housing bubble crash and the surrounding fraud.
Nobody has been held accountable.

/agree... however, look at what you wrote there. It sounds, to me, like the current politicians (and their selfish laws) are the root of the problem, are they not?I think #occupy is supposed to be about everybody getting screwed. not just " poor people ". It's about corporations that bribe politicians to write laws for them ( happens all the time ). I have to wonder how many OWS supporters went up to those with the banner and said "you're not helping," or "your banner is wrong."Death to Capitalism does sound a bit extreme. I certainly wouldn't be holding a sign that said that. But people have the freedom of speech.

Do you have any evidence of specific crimes? If so, who do you expect will follow through with any prosecutions? Oh wait... that would be those same bought and paid for politicians we discussed earlier... DOH!When the next Rush Limbaugh gets caught with a 20 year stockpile of synthetic heroin, he should goto jail like any normal person would. You feel me? There have been no arrests for any of the housing bubble crash and the surrounding fraud.

Gee, I wonder why politicians aren't flocking to join a movement that has "Death to Capitalism" as the backdrop for every photo opportunity...
I believe you. However, that doesn't change the fact that OWS itself is doing little, or nothing, to stop the supposedly fringe whackos from quickly becoming the face of the movement.Nice wild exaggeration there, ph! The vast majority of protesters I've met have no such desires as the death of capitalism. They want the death of the situation that's allowing the very richest people to loot the country.
