I tried to OC it to 1150MHz, well when I set the setting all I get is a black screen after. Here are my settings:

At 766MHZ
CPU Freq: 11.5x
System/PCI Freq: 66.9/33.45
CPU volt: 1.70v

At 1150
CPU freq: 11.5x
System/PCI Freq: 100.2/33.41
CPU volt: 1.70v

Mobo: ASUSTek Computer Inc CUV4X

Thanks!

TAKE IT IN SMALL STEPS. Increase the fsb in small steps. (5-10 mhz a time) and increase the VCORE when instabillity occurs.

You should check what kind of Core it has, and if that core overclocks well.

Of the seven or so Coppermine PIII or Celeries I went through, only one would go 1ghz.

A silly question but what do you get out of OCed >Celeron< ???
Is the gain really worth the OC ?

The PIII based Celerons weren't all that bad at the time they were out.

It's been a good long while, but if I recall correctly, most of the coppermines I had experience with would all crap out between 900 and 1000. I think I had one dog 733 PIII that would only go to around 850? and one 800 that would do a hair over 1000. All the rest were between 900 and 1000.

Yes, I would overclock them if I were you just to get the bus speed boost for the entire system, if it will take it.

I must have gotten lucky with mine. My Celeron 700 oc's to 1050Mhz no problem. I bumped the bus from 66Mhz to 100Mhz. That really is the limit of the Coppermine core though. 1150Mhz is really pushing it. Good thing too, because my Intel board has no OC features at all. I had to break off the BSEL0 pin to make it 100Mhz (I tested on another board first).

The bus speed is in the BIOS menu. If it's anything like my old P3V4X there's probably just a few choices like 66, 75. 83. 100. Be careful with the 83Mhz bus. It runs your PCI bus at 41Mhz which would probably corrupt your harddrive.

I want to OC it since all of the cooling stuff I bought it going to waste! bout 3 fans, a new HSF for it, and HD cooler and it's at 23c constant. I want to play CS:S (Counterstrike Source) Smoothly when it comes out!

I have an extremely rare 700mhz tha also made it to the coveted 1050mhz
see this PHOTO

However, did you check the reason why you're getting black screen is because your
Video Card doesn't like "FUNKY AGP SPEED" as the result of overclocking in either 75, 83, 95mhz?

My C700 will get me Black screen on my ATI Radeon VE;
so a Do-or-DIE 100mhz FSB is a must.

Someone ask is it worth overclocking old Coppermine Celerons.....?
ABSOLUTELY YES the 66mhz default bus is way too limiting for anything.
the difference is as clear as night and day for me.
