OCing AMD 64-bit 3200+

Hello, Im new here, and so far, ive already learned alot. My current system is as follows:

-AMD 64-bit 3200+ Newcastle running stock cooling
-ABIT K8T800 PRO Mobo
-OCZ Enhanced Latency Series Dual Channel Kits 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
-400W PSU

The problem is when I started to OC it. I went into the bios and checked out the current settings. The FSB is at 204 and muliplier at 11 (max for multiplier). I then proceeded to bump it to 210 and 11. Worked fine which im running at 2314MHz. When i tried to go higher on FSB, it woulnt work. Lowering mult. to 10 and fsb up some still didnt work. Any suggestions.

P.s. voltage is at defult, dont know if i will have to change any voltage.

Don't bother, without agp/pci lock it is not worth the hassle or the possible reformat once you data corrupts. I am 210, tried 220 a couple of times and got burnt real bad when I had to reformat.

You guys need Nforce 250 chipset which has locks. Also when OCing you need to test CPU and memory separatly and find it's max.

EDIT 2: Will clockgen work for my board or no. if not, is there something i can use to the same effect?

it will cool you down but wont let you get any higher. its not a CPU problem its a Motherboard. you got one with a VIA chipset and those dont have PCI/agp locks. those 2 dont want to work out of clock and wills crew you over. so I think youv hit your max overclock without getting a new motherboard. also be sure to have memory capable of being overclocking. value RAM aint gonna get ya no where

K8T800 PRO is the chipset, do you have the Abit KV8 Pro? If so, it has a working PCI/AGP lock. Wesley reviewed it and ran 250fsb.

If you want a nice/cheap motherboard...try the Chaintech VNF3-250. It's $69 + shipping at mwave.com and has the 250 chipset = pci lock. My only issue with this board is slow bios updates, but it overclocks like a champ and for the price it's just unbeatable.

KV8 Pro v1.1 has working AGP/PCI locks. KV8 Pro v1.0 usually do not although some later v1.0 boards did. Unfortunately, the v1.0 is a real pain in the arse and I recommend RMA back to ABIT. I RMAd my v1.0 board back to Abit that had broken locks and got a v1.1 back with working locks.

Careful. Only version 1.1 has the locks then only after bios update. It's a crap shoot as to which version of the board you'll get...better order from newegg who gets constant fresh stock.

I totally agree. I just put the Epox everybody was talking about in my brother's rig...and oh my the vcore issues!

The Chaintech is solid as a rock other than a quirky bios. My temps still don't read correctly with the newest bios...and the beta bioses caused more problems for me than they were worth.

For ~$70-75 this board is truly amazing.
