Ok so im wondering what all I can do without having to add any additional cooling.

What sort of things have you tweaked on your FX-53 @ stock?

Right now I idle as low as 38c and the hottest ive gotten is 60c after a few hours of Doom3.

All my memory timings are on "auto" in the BIOS, and everything is is just as it came from the factory.

So wht Kind of things can I do safely with stock cooling?

the rig in question is in sig.

thanks!!!

I have not overclocked at all yet.

Onemoretry: seeing your scores on 3dmark and your processor leads me to beleive I could be getting more performance wise out of my machine. Or have you overclocked that quite a bit because if you get that with a 3200 I should be able to beat that by a bit but my scores are just slghtly higher.

Will adjusting RAM timings add to the heat.

Is ther anything I can tweak without adding heat?

Thanks!!

then there is something wrong like i said you might have wrong temperature readings. What you can do is open the case while computer is running and touch the heatsink and see it is really hot or not if not then your readings are not right, and make sure heatsink making contact with CPU. It should be in between 30-40, in any condition.

The last time I did that, I cut myself on my fan =/ the pointy part hit me just where your fingernail is..ouchy Now if the power is on, the hand stays out Anyway, i wouldnt really recommend that, could get electrocuted..

wow, shows how beastie nv40 is as a chip compared to a cpu, my gpu runs at 80 deg whilst caining a game!!!!

what i would suggest is, and please dont take offence at this, cause i didnt know stuff like this when i started building.

1 was your fx-53 retail? If so get rid of that nasty bundled HSF. purchase a nice beastie HSF such as one of the thermalright ones that can accomodate a 120mm fan. HARDCORE!!!

2 on your HSF did it come with one of those horrible termal pads on the bottom. Get rid of that sharpish!!! purchase some Arctic silver or another good quality thermal paste. makes a awfull lot of diffrence to your HSF's cooling performance, on a quality cpu like that, id sort out the paste even if i was running it stock speeds.

all the best mate.
