On my old rig
*Asus P4P800-E Deluxe, P4 3.2, some generic DDR400 (2.5-3-3-8), Thermaltake 480w PSU
I was able to overclock to 3.6 pretty easily by raising the FSB and raising RAM/AGP/Vcore voltages to suit.
On my current rig
*Asus P5LD2 Deluxe, P4 3.4, Corsair XMS2 DDR2-675 (4-4-4-12), Antec Truepower 2.0 480w PSU
I've been trying to hit a target 3.8 overclock by raising the FSB and letting RAM run at 667mhz on SPD latency. All voltages are still set on Auto. On this setting, I can't even get into POST and have to reset CMOS to continue.
So I just used the BIOS' overclock profile of 10% to achieve 3.75 but I noticed that in POST, RAM is only running at PC3200 (ie. 400mhz).
Any suggestions or advice in how I can achieve a 3.8 OC and still force RAM to run at @675mhz?
CPU is watercooled so no worries about heat. Case is also extremely well-ventilated (Thermaltake Armor).
