Ocing nf7-s and xp2700

I've read a lot of the posts on this board, and i'm a little worried now about ocing. I've got a rev.2 board (also, the one with the plastic arm) and an unlocked xp 2700. I've been told, and i've seen on this board as well, that it is better to have a lower multiplier and higher fsb, yet the lowest multiplier i've seen is 11 (maybe a 10, not sure). Should I not go lower than that? Also, the issues with getting the nf7-s over 200 fsb seem to be a real problem, and is that why people stick with a multiple of 11 or so?

I've also get my memory(Dual-channel kingstom valueram 3200) timings at 3:4:4:11, once i get my cpu oc'd to the max, how low should i try and go on my timings? When should i try and up my voltage?

I"m pretty new at this, so please help me along! It seems like the more I learn, the worse decisions I made with my original purchases.

Oh, well.

My NF7-S Rev 2.0 hasnt got a problem with 200fsb.... Think its a metal-arm.

Personally, Id crank the FSB up to 200, ram timings probably 3-7-7-11 to start off with... they can be tightened up later. Set the multiplier to around 10.5 or 11. This should give you 2.1-2.2 ghz which is roughly what your processor does to start off with.

Probably use memtest now to see if 200 fsb runs without errors. Read up on memtext to get a jist of what settings to run.

Keep us posted. Id stick with default voltages for now... feel the water before diving straight in.

If i can run prime95 overnight with 3-4-4-11, is that okay? I just ran out for 20 minutes with no errors at 11x200.

I ran a quick memtest, 1 full pass and got 12 errors, but had to stop it (i'm in the middle of writing a paper). I"ll have to wait until tonight before i run prime95 for a few hours, i'm in an non-ac room and down in texas (ambient temp around 83, and that combined with a crappy case gives me hot temps.

If you got 12 errors in Memtest with only one pass, you're gonna have to buy some decent memory (no, Kingston Value isn't even decent) to be able to run at a 200fsb.

yeah, i knew i should have spent the extra cash to buy better memory. I guess that means I need to bring my fsb back down? I didn't do a control test at standard settings. I wonder if i'll still get the same errors. Eh, I guess that's something to do overnight.

I as well would really recommend some decent ram. A lot of folks have been having problems with the mushkin ram for this board but I don't think it's the ram that's the culprit. If you can afford it, some nice ocz or corsair xms with low timings (2-2-2-11 is the best timings for an nforce2 board). The mushkin pc3500 that's advert'd in the oc guide is like $230 for 1gb and is 2-3-3-6. I got it because it was quite a bit cheaper than the others. If 11/11.5x200 is ok w/you on the 2500+, then that'll work peachy. If you want to hit 220+, I'd go with a different board (dfi lanparty) and better ram. Just my opinon. You can check out www.abit-usa.com, they have some forums for the amd boards that detail what folks have been able to do.

Eh, unfortunately, my cache flow ain't so hot, and I'm probably going to stick with what i gots. I"ll just see how far I can push it knowing that i'm already handicapped with notsogood ram.
