Ok, a little history. The original BIRDS and DURONS had the L1 bridges intact. Mobo makers, including FIC designed their mobos to allow for overclocking. AMD then started blowing the L1 bridges and FIC left off the hardware required to change the multiplier. Note that all mobos require that the L1 bridges be connected to overclock, unless you manually reconfigure the L2,L3 and L6 bridges.
If I recall, you had to solder several sets of jumper pins to the AZ11 mobo, its been a while. Tom may only have had an article on adding the required IC to the A7V on mobos that didn't support OC, memory gets a little vague.
