OCing registered ddr ram?

I am about to buy a stick of Crucial PC1600 registered ECC ram and was wondering if anybody had experiencing running these at PC2100 speed. I read review of crucial ram being very good with overclocking, and in fact, I have a few PC2100 that went up as high as DDR375 (266 = PC2100). But I just want to confirm this is the case with registered ram.

I will be running this on a Tyan Tiger MPX which already have 2 crucial registered PC2100 sticks, and because of the low price, I want to buy this and add it in. Does anyone have experience or comments. Thanks

Registered RAM uses an extra clock cycle to do a bit verification of dat as a check validation function.
ECC (Error Code Checking) is used for server and data storage applications.

In other words - it runs slower. If you turn OFF the function in the motherboard,
it still dosen't run as fast as the unbuffered, non-Error Code Checking RAM.
Save the money - unbuffered is cheaper and faster.

PC2100 is DDR Double Data Rate, as is PC2700 and the PC1600 is as well,
but with the DDR rate of the PC1600 being at 256, and the PC2100 being 266
there is a risk of a system slow-down to that of the least capable component.

No, NO, *NO*! Have you looked at Tyan's web page on the Tiger MPX? More importantly, have you looked at the list of supported memory modules for the Tyan Tiger MPX?

Do you see Crucial listed anywhere there? No. Do not make the same mistake I made. I bought Crucial memory for my Tiger MP motherboard, and didn't test it out until after the 30 day money-back period, and I was left high and dry. Even after Crucial claimed that they had memory that would work with my board, and replaced my original ram with the "new" ram, it still did not work. I can only assume that the same issues apply to the MPX chipset. Otherwise, why wouldn't it be on the list of supported memory modules?
