4k on Graphics and you're stuck with a Intel CPU... oh joy. If it was Conroe/Merom/Woodcrest i'd understand but not current Intel CPU's.

So technically this could support 4 dual-gpu 7900 video cards or 8 GPUs total

Or even 16 monitors I guess.

Actually, it'd only be eight monitors since you have four cards with two DVI ports each, even if you get the dual GPU cards.

No it would be 16 monitors if the cards were the DUAL GPU ONES (read OP)

What's wrong with OCT-SLI? Oh right, ATi isn't able to do that.

Please take your trolling elsewhere.

Erm, I think his point is... that it's pretty pointless. He isn't trolling, who in the hell would need 8 graphics cards, thats the point.

A lot of people said they same thing about SLI with just 2 cards.

If you build it they will buy.

...but right now it doesn't even support 4...

Quad SLI is an enticing idea, but currently there are no drivers that exist that'll let you run four cards on this specific board for increased performance, and from what we've heard nVIDIA doesn't have any plans on changing that just yet.

Someone isn't trolling just because they state their disapproval of something.

There are plenty of logical arguments that can be shown that do not involve hating or promoting ATi.

For one thing, all of these multi card solutions drive up the price of the ultra high end pcs. Back in the day, one could buy a top of the line gpu, that could run any game at any setting, no questions asked, for $399.99 msrp, and lower when one looked around.

Nowadays, to run any game at any setting you want, you are required to have some form of multi cpu solution, as even the X1900XTX is not going to run Fear at 2048x1536 with maximum aa/af at maximum settings. Compare this to the fact that with a 9700 Pro, you could run UT2003(most intensive game of the time) at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 8xAF and possibly even higher and never worry about framerate. The 9700 Pro could run any game at maximum settings without AA for multiple years after its release. Even today, it can run most games at maximum settings, with the ones that it cannot, being able to be counted on fingers.

It would be 8 monitors, 4 video cards 2 GPUs and 2 DVI outputs each.

Back on topic, I'd like to see the poor sap that actually buys 4 video cards if theyve got this board.

AFAIK, there is little to no driver support for this at the moment so its still experimental at best even for the holy nvidia

The point is, spending $4000~ to have 8 graphics cards working together just is plain STUPID! No game requires more than Quad SLI when played @ 2560x1600 w/32xAA! So why buy 8!

I just love all these new designs with a single PCI slot in the system, which gets blocked if you use a dual-slot cooler on your graphics card. Back to the drawing board GB. Don't they know a gamer with quad video cards is going to have aftermarket sound on the single PCI slot?

The current 7800 dual gpu cards have their own power supplies, so no drain on your systems power supply.

I think the dell Quad SLI has 2 power supply's in the case, I'm not too sure.
