Why do we make Octomom a poster child for all Welfare Mom's? Especially when Octomom has a legitimate claim to fame? Not every welfare Mom, or for that matter any legitimate couple able to support all their children can beat the world record holder of Octomom in having 8 live births in a single pregnancy.

In short, Octomom can't be typical when she is highly unusual. Is Octomom one in six billion or is Octomom even rarer?

When the next female can at least equal the feat of having 8 live births in a single pregnancy, we might have an answer on what is typical.

So to sum up the thread, it's better to remove all the siblings from Octomom who recieved welfare to either an institution, group home or foster parents...all of whom recieve compensated for expenses from the govt. Lets not forget all the financial expenses involved with social service agencies which for 8 kids and likely seperation, tally up to more monthly costs than Octomom would recieve on her own. To just foster one of each child, someone can correct me, but i think they get around a grand per month...so $8k per month in exchange for the $2800 in welfare?

So that gets us where exactly?
*edit: i looked it up, up to $40 a day and i thought she had 8 kids but its 14...if $2800 is all she gets from welfare per month that is cheap in comparison.

(1) They should have been removed from her at birth and adopted out. After which the adopted parents would take care of them. Given that American's go to Russia to find kids to adopt it shouldnt be that hard.

(2) $8K to have the kids raised by decent people instead of $2800 to be raised by the animal that is octomom. Quality costs money. If you actually care about the well-being of the kids...

(3) You are failing to take into account that subsiding this behavior encourages it. Until you take that into account you cannot know if you really save money.
