Selling bottom-of-the-barrel grade RAM severely overvolted, just to meet PC3200 specs, and trumpeting it as a marketing *feature* that it requires voltage levels that most boards can't provide safely/stably? (Oh, but they just happen to also sell a custom vDIMM overvolting device too..)

Perhaps their business ethics have slightly improved, but I question their "engineering". Anyone technically-knowledgable, reading their marketing ad-copy about this stuff, just has to chuckle. I know I do.

i'm seeing people post benchmarks of 2-2-2 timings past DDR500 PC4000 at 3.3V on this high voltage memory. its true that it doesnt have very good specs when low vdimm is being used, even so it seems like OCZ rated these rather conservatively at 3.2V. its also relatively inexpensive for an OCZ product

I just want to tell you that we will be checking here at Anand from time to time to give you all a hand with OCZ products.

As far as the Powerstream 600w issues, we did have a problem with the first shipment. We tested a sampling and found no problems, so the units were shipped. The instant we realized that some of the PSUs were not working properly, we notified all vendors to pull them and recall any that were sold. We have replaced any problem units and worked through any issues that purchaser's may have had.

All OCZ Powerstream PSUs on the shelves now are good to go. You can buy with confidence. Every brand of PSU will have an occasional failure. I have personally bought a few high quality units that have failed in the past. The PSU has a tough job and many components, so just like a motherboard or video card some of them will unfotunately get RMAed. We have shipped literally thousands of Powerstreams and have had a great response to thier quality and reliability.

Adressing the comments about OCZ VX memory:

I see that a comment was made about this being sub-standard memory. We fully realize that not everyone needs memory that will do 2-2-2 timings at 250-260fsb on a good platform. If you are looking for the tightest timings at a high FSB, then VX is for you. This is a product intended for the "extreme" enthusiast. If you require a more mainstream product we have many choices that will do a great job for you. Please contact me or someone else from OCZ for a recommendation to suit your needs.
