I read somewhere that this SSD will work at its best if Intel AHCI drivers are installed at installation. Did I remember this correctly? I,m at the point of ordering this ssd at a good price.
You don't get the more advanced functions of the drive if you don't install AHCI with it, such as TRIM.
Quoting from the corsair forums:
"You have to have a driver that can pass the TRIM command AND have the controller AHCI mode. The newest Intel driver will pass the TRIM command (on Intel controllers of course) and the Microsoft driver will of course pass it. But, if you can't do AHCI mode on your controller, it's a moot point. " http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=86403
intel ACHI drivers does offer more performance than the MS one but the chipset you use is also important.
If you are on a Intel board its a no brainer, however with AMD chipsets these seems to be alot of conflicts that i've seen on what driver to use. Someone with an AMD chipset board will have to post which is the best driver to use on that setup.
