OCZ DDR Booster

hey i'm new to the forums as you can see from my post count but i've been reading anandtech since i was in 9th or 10th grade (starting second year university in several days now). i simply love the detail and quality (not to mention the legitimacy) of the reviews. i know the memory reviews are already pretty thorough but i'd like to see some extended voltage overclocking results using the ddr booster. in the past voltages over 2.8 or 2.9 you needed to hard mod your mobo but now with the ddr booster even ppl without any soddering capabilities can really amp up the volts on their sticks. so i'd be interested in seeing just what some of these sticks can do at 3.1V or 3.2V now that these voltages will be less difficult to acquire.

i agree, infact after an extensive search for people who stock it, my OCZ ddr booster will be ordered tomorrow as for anand using it in their reviews its certainly a good idea, id like to see how far you can take PC3200.

yeah i've been really interested in seeing whether ballistix could make ddr500 at 2-2-2-5 at any voltage as we've been discussing it on another forum i post on. too bad the ballistix review is already done thoguh so i'll probably have to find out first hand come christmas or so when my cash comes togehter.

I would like to try this OCZ booster as well but I would have to move my DIMMs around thus disabling Dual Channel...I don't think the benefits (if any) would out perform the Dual Channel set up...

However, once I move away from my nForce2 motherboard to a 939 motherboard I will be more apt to give it a try...

do it the old fashion way... a soldering iron, solder, wires, a vr... total cost = $1 or so per vmod

my ability with a soddering iron is somewhat nothing... therefore i'm not really willing to just destroy 2 or 3 mobos in the process learning how to do it right.

OCZ booster means you keep the warranty, and you can re-use the booster when you get a new board. So it's better than vmod

i agree, further more the ddr booster pulls from the 5V rail rather than the 3.3V so you can go above 3.3V plus the circuitry on the booster dampens voltage fluctuations apparently to help protect your memory. no mod can do that.
