OCZ is known to be very quirky with rebates. I hear people find a lot of catches on the forms that position OCZ to screw the customer over.

Well just bought the Buffalo firestix pc2-6400 at 169.99 after coupn + 4.99 shipping fron the egg. After rebate this deal seems to be much better but I hate rebates.....

Anyway thanks for posting. Wish I have seen this post before the Buffalo purchase.

Hey! I just ordered that OCZ memory kit on Sunday from Frys.com. Shipping was free at the end of purchase process.

They didn't advertise any rebates, which Fry's normally seems to be crazy about. They had this memory on sale in the store for $10 more, but nor rebates there either.

I wonder if Fry's a national rebate partner, as required on that rebate form.

I'm just wondering why you said that, if I may ask? I only ask because, unless you buy the Firestix from Micro Center, you're almost guaranteed to get Micron D9 chips on that pair of Firestix.....some of the best OC'ing RAM around.

The OCZ, on the other hand, is whatever IC they can find to put on to run at that speed. No guarantee of anything else.

The only known OCZ RAM with Micron D9 chips is their Platinum DDR2-1000 (PC2-8000) RAM....not the DDR2-800 stuff.

I think the better deal is just what you purchased..... but just IMHO.
