Vertx plus is getting great reviews SINCE they just upgraded their firmware. 1 dollar a gig is great. OH AND BEFORE YOU SLAM OCZ, remember what happened to micron last year and the c300, they had their own firmware debacle. THESE THINGS HAPPEN!
The problem with the Vertex Plus is that it's so crappy that it typically dies before you have a chance at updating the firmware in the first place. Tons of drives are DOA and not recognized by motherboards when setting up OS installation, even if AHCI mode is enabled.
If you think receiving a drive this way or with these conditions is in any way, shape, or form acceptable you're hopeless. If OCZ's 3 series drives are comparable to what should be a Beta product, the Vertex Plus would classify as a pre-Alpha.
As far as Crucial/Micron goes, if you actually read you would've seen I responded to that. Their issue was experienced by WAY less users, not to mention it was only one big issue. With OCZ/SandForce we've seen their drive series have more than three big issues, and OCZ is harder to work with than Crucial when it comes to RMAs which also doesn't help. There's a reason why 93% of reviews on the C300 64GB and 89% of reviews on the C300 128GB on Newegg are four to five stars, while the Vertex 2 60GB it's 61% and the Vertex 2 120GB it's 56%.
There's many more issues with SandForce than Marvell in general, but since OCZ works so closely with SandForce and are their most important partners the blame should be placed on both OCZ and SandForce. If a new Marvell controller were to have serious issues then likewise for Crucial/Micron.
