OCZ Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 for $165 after small $12MIR

Just picked up this pair of OCZ Performance 2x1GB (2GB total) dual channel PC3200 RAM for use in my Abit K8N-Ultra. This same RAM was apprx. $180 yesterday. I think they are in the process of updating prices or something... it still says the old price when you are searching for memory, but it has the lowered price on the actual item webpage.

man, i remember like 3-5 months ago when almost all these 2gb kits were at least $200-250. Ram prices were crazy mostly because of BF2 I think and its ram requirements. Now that alot of people have already upgraded, prices have dropped.

Do these moduals overclock well cause it seems like any of these would be a better deal due to lower CAS rating of 2.5?:

The name brand is what would keep me away from those particular modules. Rosewill sucks, but I have seen some people using G.Skill lately, can anybody vouch for their quality?

You will take a chance with some of the no-namers. You may also find some incompatability with certain mobos. From reading the reviews it seems some of these are hit or miss. Meaning some worked out great for the buyer and some were not satisfactory.

I built a system for a friend using the g.skill 2x1GB 2.5 CAS kit. The specs of the system are as follow:
Asus A8R-MVP
Athlon 64 X2 4600
2x1GB g.skill memory
2x Sapphire X1900XT 512MB cards (crossfire of course)
74GB Raptor
X-Fi sound card
Antec NeoHE 550W power supply
Antec P180 case

The system scored 8400 and some change in 3dmark06. I ran two instances of Prime95 along with 3dmark06 and the system has been stable for 5 days straight now.

I think the g.skill is fine memory. I just wish I could keep the system!
