OCZ Performance PC3200 2x1GB issue?

Hi all,

Picked up some OCZ Performance PC3200 (OCZ4002048PFDC-K) newegg link for my Epox 9NPA+/Opty 144 rig. Out of the box, all default settings on the board (DDR 400), I get errors in MemTest86. I then manually set voltage to 2.6 figuring maybe the Auto setting wasn't picking it up right. Still no joy.
I'm thinking I may have a bad stick if they fail at stock settings.
Is there anything else I should try before RMAing them?

make sure your timmings are 3-3-3-8

I had purchased a set of 2x1gb OCZ EL Platinum that also failed right out of the box. Odd thing is that at SPD the times are not as advertised (spd timings are 2.5-3-2-5, advertised ratings are 2-3-2-5). I set to 2-3-2-5 and burned in 24 hours with prime and now get no errors with memtest for 4 passes.

I am conducting some more in depth testing. manually set timings to 3-3-3-8, voltage to 2.7, Testing the stick separately. Lowered HTT mult to 4 and CPU to 7 to rule out other issues.

Stick A fails at 200 (MemTests 2 & 7)
Stick B has passed at 200 & 210, still going (testing 220 right now)

going to try some lower #s (timings and speed) for stick A just for grins and giggles.

Thinking RMA time.

Im assuming I go through newegg first, since I've only had the memory 2 days.

NONONO... Before you RMA..

It happened to me, too. At first I couldn't figure out why my RAM can't even finish Super PI 1M @ ANY speed. Turned out to be timings/settings, etc. Try "Load Optimized Default" or something like that, and save and exit. Shut down the machine, and reboot and go right into BIOS, and configure your basic stuff. (But leave memory settings at minimal change) See if it's stable. If so, you can tweak it from there.

Well, if you've already tried it or it doesn't work, there is a stickied OCZ thread. Maybe they can help you.

We used 2 sets of these in upgrading my machine, and the machine of the other owner. Both failed out of the box as well

However, OCZ was awesome in exchanging them. New sticks work fine, so I'm happy!

Wow, super advice, and very weird!

Did the load opimized stuff, set to 1T and left the rest alone, ratcheted up to 230 with no errors on a couple MemTest passes.

Go figure.

No to find out why I can't get the CPU (opty 144) Prime stable past 2.4gig

It might not be stable because the HT link multi (LDT multi, etc. etc.) is over 1000. Try setting it to 4x.

Right now running 265x9 (3x LDT, 166 divider) rock solid, prime95 fails if i go higher
