people simply don't listen to the OPs these days. if the OP specifically says he prefers Intel, recommend him a Intel processor instead of wasting time convincing him to go AMD.

OCZ sells very good power supplies. the Powerstream ranks up there with the best.

save money by buying Seasonic 500W?

a Modstream can be had for about $75 while the Powerstream 520W is around $105, and you will save him money by buying a Seasonic 500W which costs more than the Powerstream?

The 470 silencer don't have a pci-e pin.

The $50 450w fortron has a pcie pin.

Thermaltake is overpriced crap.

i have the same one (thanks waffles, i love it)

overclocking both my 6800GT and 3500+, the 12V is at 12.11
5V at 5.1
3.3V at 3.32

o and i guess since you still want to get a OCZ (barf), get a Powerstream (your choice of voltage)

And I see alot of people reccomend OCZ

it was a few years back, right when i was picking parts for my computer

http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-10221.html

that is all i could find now. i think they rebadged crap sticks of memory and sold it as quality stuff that would not run stable at stock speeds.

they supposedly have cleaned up their act. and i think OCZ actually send people to monitor various forums (fatwallet and AT to be exact), and the person would say how dedicated they are too customer satisfaction.

maybe they are. but hey, im not taking any chances. and if stuff from seasonic or antec cost the same, why would i want to trust OCZ?

it is true they had issues in the past..I think ownership changed..anyway, their CS is among the best out there now

Top rated memory and PSUs

I would get the Powerstream series...you will need to decide bewteen nonsli vs sli versions...this is new PSU just released

I have owned a 520w Powerstream for about 1 yr now..I love it best psu I have owned...most of my prior PSUs were antec..the OCZ maintains more stable rails and has allowed me to overclock same components further ...noise is very low(although Seasonic is better..which BTW are excellent psu at good price too)

I would get the 520w version..excellent will provide for todays and tomorrows needs...the real issue is whether to get nonsli vs sli(dual rails and blue led fan)...the SLI version are very new...so I can not comment on it as I do not have one....

Powerstream. The Modstreams are supposed to be worse performers, and anyway I'm not sure I trust the contacts of those modular cables.

OT: I feel there are better options out there, but what you do with your money is really no business of mine.

OCZ Powerstream 520W is superior. It is suited more for gamers and people with high end needs.
OCZ Powerstream 520W > Seasonic 500W
I sincerely doubt you have anything to back these statements up. Note that "I bought a Powerstream and it works real good" is not justification, and neither is "I heard about a Seasonic breaking on these forums".

That might have been a little blunt. I mean no offense, here, and I realize this thread is about the OP's question, but saying things like that is going to mislead people. You should never make general statements like that unless you have solid, objective evidence that one is simply better than the other. Of course, as you no doubt feel that you do have exactly that, feel free to attempt to disprove me. Just keep it impersonal and try not to derail the thread.

well sorry for trying to help them save money with similar performance parts.
I take it you don't often build PCs for people. It IS the customer's money, and if they are initially resistant there is little point in pushing them towards something that you consider better. Besides, if their choice goes bad, they're not going to blame you. This is what "the customer is always right" means-- even if the customer is misguided, they're not going to yell at you when their decision goes bad, but they're less likely to be satisfied if a decision YOU make works out well enough. It's kind of covering your own ass over making sure that everyone gets the best build, but hey, if they're happy...
