Anyone have any experience or input about the durability and quality of OCZ DDR 3500-4200 RAM (in other words, if it lasts)?

Um.. Are you asking the reliability of OCZ RAM? I thought they are the highest quality on the market (above Corsair or Kingston)? Am I wrong?

I've been using several sticks of the OCZ Performance Series Rev 2 PC3200 for nearly a year now. No complaints whatsoever, and it's worked perfectly in 4 or 5 different motherboards. Highly recommended.

I've heard that Mushkin is very good quality, and their CS is 2nd to none. I'm not sure if I'd say OCZ is above Corsair. I've been hearing mixed things about OCZ... but they do have some of the fastest memory out there. My current debate is between Mushkin DDR4000 vs OCZ DDR4000 Gold or 4200EL...

Mushkin is good, but I'm a Kingston fan.. Hyper-X is absolutely wicked stuff, and it's cheaper too.

Kingston rules

OCZ had some problems in the past with a bunch of fake memory claiming to be OCZ that sucked. But these days, they'll replace your memory in a heartbeat if you are having problems with it. Don't get me wrong, Mushkin is good, and Corsair is nice.....but I'm afraid I don't even consider HyperX to be in the same game as these other 3.

I have been using some OCZ Platinum PC3200 RAM, works great at tight timings, overclocks pretty fair, and hasn't given me a trouble in any of the motherboards I have put it in. They had some problems in the past, but I believe those are all over now, because everything I've used of OCZ's in the past year (about 4 different types of modules) has been great. I've used Mushkin, Corsair, Kingston, and Geil memory and these OCZ sticks I have are every bit as good as any of these, and a lot better than most of them.

I tried the HyperX and they did not compare to the OCZ. The OCZ rocks with a P4C setup. I have some Dual Channel PC3700 Gold running at 275fsb and my other 3 machines are running dual channel PC3500EL.

Yup, OCZ used to be under bad management and organisation, but have now turned things around and are back among the top contenders.

Personally, I find Mushkin to be the best, hence why I bought some (admittedly expensive) Mushkin 'black' Level II PC3500 BH5's. The stuff is amazing.

Does everyone here realize that all these companies use THE SAME CHIPS on their memory sticks. There are only a handful of memory manufacturers in the world, so this makes sense. The PCB's may have make a difference but if you can buy brand name stuff with the same chips on them, odds are you'll be able to overclock them just as well for much less money. I've used both Corsair and Kingston's HyperX stuff before and they were great, but I don't know if they're worth the premium when I can get some Kingston ValueRAM with good chips (Winbond BH5's or Hynix BT-D43's) for a lot less money.

For what it's worth I'm currently using pretty generic RAM with Hynix BT-D43's on them (same as used by all high-end manufacturers on their PC4000+ lines) and they work fine up to PC4200 or so without a heatspreader. I think that my memory buying patterns will likely be to use ValueRAM, Samsung Originals, Twinmos, and Crucial depending on who's using the right chips to overclock, I just can't see myself justifying the premium for these high-end brands.

They cost more because they are garunteed to hit the speeds they are rated at. Speed binning and all.. They sell the cream of the crop so its not hit and miss as with value lines.

I just got OCZ pc3500 Platinum Ltd Edition.... this stuff rocks.. (bh-5 memory)
got 5-2-2-2 215 fsb dual channel on nf7-s @ 2.8V

I used Kingston HyperX and it sucked so bad due to the ch-5 memory (2.6V rating)
can't even do 5-2-2-2 200 fsb @ 2.9V
