OCZ RMA.

It is a little bit off topic but I just want to mention it because I think it is worth mentioning.
Recently I bought 2x256 OCZ pc3700 GOLD EL (dual channel setup). Yesterday when I installed it one of the sticks showed in sandra and cpuz as pc3200. I figured I'd call OCZ directly insteadof going through the merchant I bought ram from.
Here is a little chronological table just to show how awesome OCZ is (everything today):

4:00 PM EST-I call sales they take my phone number and tell me someone will contact me from RMA department.

4:12 PM EST-TechSupport/RMA guy called me. Asked me about the problem and told me that they will replace the memory. He also asked me if I have spare ram to use while I send them faulty one. I said I didn't and he suggested that I give them my credit card number and they wil ship ram first so I can return bad one when I get new one.
I also asked if it possible to send it overnight at my expense. He put me on hold for about 2 minutes then returned and said that they will overnight it at no expense to me because it is a problem for me and they would like to help as much as they can.
He also asked for an email from me with my inof and mobo model so they can pretest ram before they send it.

5:12 PM - I am home and emailing ocz the following:

Brief description of the problem:
I purchased OCZ Dual Channel DDR SDRAM 512MB OCZ466512ELDCGE-K PC3700 (256MB X 2) 466MHZ CL2 1T 184Pin 2.5V with Gold Heatspreader at eebuy.com When I installed the memory I have noticed that it is not running in dual channel mode.
After closer inspection and tests using Sysoft Sandra Max 3 and cpuz
I have discovered that one of the sticks registers as pc 3200 as oppose to pc 3700 as it is marked. I hae ran several more test and all of them indicate that one of the sticks operates as pc3200.

Wrap the RAM in antistatic material, paper is not anti-static. Then place the memory in at least two inches of bubble wrap or equivalent, pack in a cardboard box write this number on the box: X-XXX do not lose this number, we will not be able to track your RMA status without it. thanks. If you want to know it is not that hard. you only gotta buy it once. Then you use it for a while then you sell it and upgrade. This way you don't have to spend too much money on upgrade.

I actually got some personal assistance. There is an OCZ representative over at the Xtremesystems.org forums, and I PM'ed him explaining my problems. They weren't even serious. I was just complaining in a thread that my RAM couldn't hit DDR500, so he hand tested some RAM on my exact setup, and had them advanced RMA'd to me. Great support over there at OCZ, good people.

I am in the process of RMA'ing my OCZ PC3500 right now. Should have the new stuff by Thursday. I only asked a question via thier support email and got a reply saying they would RMA them. Very good customer service.

Impressive and very nice to hear given their... ah, less then reputable history over the past few years and the couple BetterBusinessBureau violations. Perhaps this time they might just have been genuine when they stated they planned to change.

OCZ has great customer support.They replaced my OCZ PC3500 EL dual channel with 2 sticks that did 476 and 474 DDR.Plus thay gave me an OCZ Ratzpad,OCZ paste and a Gladiator 2 heatsink and fan and shipped it overnight or 2 days to Canada.This was about 6 months ago .I now have the OCZ Gold PC3700,good ram.Since their service was excellent I purchased more ram from them.The problems with the 3700 Gold has to do with the speed chip breaking during shipping.OCZ has change the cases that holds the ram to prevent this from happening again.I had to RMA a stick of Gold because of this.

That may be the case but the fradulent misrepresentation of farbication facilities, and their rather underhanded relationship with the deveoper of Athlonoc.com were most definitely their fault.
The numerous times they went under and then resurfaced under a new name, claiming no relation to the previos OCZ companies was also hardly moral.

I open it and what do I see? 2 sticks of ram, OCZ ratpad and a t-shirt. Go OCZ.
