OCZ vs Curcial

I purchased both the 2GB OCZ PC2 8500 @ 139.99 AR and the 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2 8500 @ 134.99 AR. Both are Micron D9 chips, but is one built better?

I am wondering which set to put in my Gigabyte DS3 Rev 3.3 Mobo. I plan to OC an Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (Batch L709A171). I purchased some Artic Cooling MX-1 thermal compound and a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsink. I am hoping all of these items will help me reach 3.2 to 3.4 on the E6420. Which memory would best compliment these items

No one can tell you that, I'm afraid. And a set that performs better on one motherboard could perform worse on another motherboard. You need to test it out yourself.

i can't speak for the ocz but the ballistix 8500 are the top of the line crucial modules while the sli 8500's from ocz aren't necessarily top of the line.

the results from the crucials have been very promising as well. also some of the crucial 8500's have d9gkx.

I bought the Crucial because, once, a long time ago I had a Crucial chip go bad. Their service, as I recall, was excellent.

Sort of a backhanded compliment but it made the choice for me.

Go for the Crucial Ballistix 8500 - they rip. There's a special at Newegg on these memory sticks until 05/03/07 which gives a $75.00 MIR on an already steeply discounted price. It's a GREAT deal. I bought 4 sticks and they work great and OC very well. TheBeagle
