Can this camera be used for video conferencing if you connect it to the computer through USB for picture than use a microphone for sound?

I had the same concerns. Mine did not have a sealed box. The camera was in bubble wrap but, there wasn't any tape holding it closed. Everything did look new and undisturbed, however. The thing that confirmed for me that the camera was in fact unused, was the fact that when I turned it on for the first time it prompted me to set the date and time. According to the manual, this prompt only happens when the camera is first started or when the little "coin" battery is changed. The manual also states that the coin battery is installed at the factory.

Canon does not shrink wrap their boxes. I bought a Digital Rebel over Xmas and just jumped on this deal. Neither are taped close or shrink wrapped. I wouldn't worry about it.

Aaaarrrrrrrrrrggghhhhh... I was about to try riding in late on this deal based on the above info. Good thing I checked the ACTUAL rebate form since purchases had to be made by APRIL 4th. At the od.com's site there was a one week offering after that date that has also termed.

Hmmm, I'd swear the register-receipt rebate form said the same extended dates. Should be Ok with a copy of that....

I just got a confiramtion today that my 100 dollar rebate is valid, and should get it in 4 weeks. ANd my epson printer rebates are valid also, so i got my camera for liek 66 or something like that. Awesome deal.

everybody that bought this using the Advantage card hoping to get $20 back:

I was told that the purchase including tax would be over $200, but I checked my online advantage summary and the balance is only $199.00, so you may want to go to OD with your card and buy some pencils or something, so you'll be eligible for the $20 rebate after the quarter ends

Also, I just got my Advantage card in the mail and there was a $10 off $50 coupon inside. Expires May 1 2004

i signed up for an advantage card that day, but i never got it in the mail yet. I tried to get it online and it says my password is incorrect, but when i search for the card number using my telephone number it shows the correct card number. I guess i hae to call them to make sure they entered my password in correctly.

I sent in a *photocopy* of the entire side of the box. To be safe, this included both UPC type codes. Remember, photocopies are accepted for this rebate.

BTW, mine shows up as "Qualified" at the rebate tracking link of Express Group.

After once sending an actual UPC code (for another deal) and getting a post card how they needed "the other code," I simply send in everything resembling a UPC code on the box so they can choke on them if they want

Why take a chance and leave a tiny UPC-resembling strip? They're small enough, send them all in!

i bought one today and pmed it to BestBuy's price of $161(office depot called bestbuy and thats there price instore), i didnt get the printout of the rebate at checkout, but i have the pdf of the extended date and rebate form so ill just send that in. hopefully they will still give me my rebate even though i pmed it to $161.

and for the UPC im sending in the one that peels off.
