i saw this battery kit yesterday at my local od in chicago, and it was priced at $12.99. i was about to pick up a couple when i realized that getting NiMH AA's and a charger would come out less expensive. but $2.99?! that's a great deal.

<< Does this work for the 6300 series? >>

it does not work with the 6300 series, only the 280/289 series. they used to be 7.99.

The trick is to find a cheap AA charger that will charge 3 cells. Good luck.

Just an FYI, Tydas - this was NOT a "cashier mis-key" deal... I picked up five at my local OD a couple days ago for $2.99 each. The clearance table they were on had a tag clearly marked with that price.

Does your failure to find the same deal really warrant petulant rudeness.....? Sigh.

Ahhhh...... a perspective I can't quite see the world from.

Now if I can just find a deal on the Talkabouts....... to go with the five rechargers/batteries I piggled.

I picked a couple of these up. In one store, they were marked $10.00, in another $15.88. In both stores, they rang up at $2.99.

In my experience, it's a good idea to have them scan anything in the clearance section that you're interested in, even if the price isn't quite where you want it. You could be surprised. I found a copy of Red Hat Linux Deluxe Workstation marked $23.88 that scanned at $0.01 today! You folks who saw these kits marked higher might consider going back to check again. (And maybe send a "sorry" to Sept1967?)

These are going to work great with my $20 Galyan's "Black Friday" T289s.

OD clearance items are always hit and miss, but nice post, '67.

The problem with the ODs around here is that they override the scan price and input whatever is marked on the package for clearace table items so people around here can never get these deals. I have seen this done many times and have even questioned OD corporate about it. Since the clearance prices marked on the packages are rarely updated, there are rarely any hot deals at OD. Basically each OD can sell clearance items at whatever prices they want as long as they meet the corporate mandated clearance time tables.

GetReal, I stand corrected. That sucks.

If it makes you feel any better, they refused to honor the $0.01 price on Red Hat. Said something about that being a code for things that are supposed to be donated and not left on the shelves. I didn't argue the point. I guess I'll just have to wait until another day to become a Linux Uber-geek.

Im not sure how other OD's do it...

But the ones I go to (4 in my area) have the prices already in the computer. I have never seen them do a price override. They scan it, thats the price. At least thts how it is with items with a barcode tag for them. They may be different with items with hand written sale tag. No big, like someone else said...its always good practice to have a clerk scan the item first.

PS: Any Motorola FRS T250 owners : Another little Gem.
An earpiece with microphone that plugs into the T250 - so you can leave the radio clipped to your belt, is on clearance SKU#995-516 was $3.19.

My OD will only do price override to tagged price if the item shows up at regular price. If it's a clearance item marked way down when they scan it it will show "invalid" on the register, then the cashier hits the clearance key and the low price shows up. I did this on several of the Motorola rechargeable and earpieces on Sunday and she had to do that on each one. They also had the T6300 NiMH kits that were marked as $74.xx regular and tagged at $21.xx. when she scanned them it showed regular price so all she could do was override to the $21.xx price. Always ask them to scan a clearance item and watch the register. If the invalid screen comes up and the cashier doesn't pull up the clearance screen, ask for a manager or someone who knows what they are doing to assist.

This bites. I've been trying to get in on this deal since it was posted. My OD in SoCal still shows $21.99 for OD SKU #995-990.
This deal is turning out to be like Humvee deal that I never got in on. Good luck to those who get it. Oh, btw, are these on
the clearance table or do you have to bring a tag up to the register?

these were on the clearance table...the same 3 or 4 kits that i saw a week or two ago. looks like nobody wanted them since they were priced at $12.99. then again...this is my favorite od in the middle of the hood and for some reason, i must be the only computer geek nearby since i always find the deals there (linksys switch & nic cards/kds 19" avitron/clearance dvds/these battery packs...and more i can't remember!)

I only went to one of my local 4 OD's. And it was still on the shelf, with a pull tag.

But by now, they are prob on a clearance table if there are any left.

Anyone have a local OD that has these at $2.99 that they'd be willing to get for me? I could use up to 4. No OD around here anymore. I can PayPal immediately with shipping/tax and a little extra for you! PM me if you can do it!
