I picked up a Pacific Digital at Staples this morning and received a drive marked model number DD0201, which I believe is an Optorite drive.

Any info? My Pacific Digital P/N is U-30182
Yep, I used a $15 competitor coupon too to make it a little less than the Bestbuy deal. OD gets major points from me. I bought the drive earlier in the week, but they did a return/re-buy for me so I could get the lower price and rebates, plus they took the $15 coupon. Plus there were no lines. Plus they had donutsOriginally posted by: SemperFi
Went to OD this morning to get my lite on. They had a whopping 3 units in the case. There was 2 others there and we all got one. Then some guy comes up and wants 3. Well I hope he was lucky and they had some more in the back. Not.
Cost $130 -$15 coupon =

Here is what I determined:
If the serial starts with an "I" and the model number on the box ends in "RV1" it is an Optorite
If the serial starts with a "3" and the model number on the box ends in "RV2" it is an NEC.
You can also tell by wieght, the NEC is heavier than the Optorite.
