OD Requiring bar code coupons for pickup or delivery - anyone can confirm?

With all the OD deals here lately requiring coupons, thought I'd post this...ripped from a thread at FW...posted by "BigDeals"

Two weeks ago I used a coupon in a hot deal and chose instore pickup. When I went to pick up the order they demanded a physical coupon and refused to give me the merchandise (that I'd already paid for via credit card by the way....).

This week I used a coupon in another hot deal and chose delivery.
The driver came while I was out this morning and left an "office depot attempted delivery card" on my doorknob. On that card is the time of attempted delivery and order number, but there is also the following handwritten statement:

"Need Barcoded Coupon at Time of Delivery"


Moreover, the words "Barcoded Coupon" are underlined for emphasis!

Dude.....office depot seems dead for hot deals.......

I've got 10 cases of water headed for delivery from OD...I should find out on Friday if this is true or not or YMMV

I'm not sure that OD is dead for hot deals with coupons. I think it's just the rash of deals that utilize that $15 off $30 coupon. I've seen/experienced no problems with the $25 off $75, so I think it's that specific coupon. Just my $0.02.

Once I phoned in an order at OfficeMax (not OD) and used a coupon I found online. Of course they said to give the driver the actual card when the delivery was made. They even made a note on the delivery checklist to take the physical coupon from me.

When the driver came, I just signed my name right under the comment to fork over the coupon and that was it. I didn't say anything and neither did the driver. Oh well What was he going to do with it anyway?

I'm usually never home when the delivery arrives, it's just on my porch...so I've never even seen the driver when he drops stuff off...I've never had a problem before. I guess time will tell.

What do you expect when people abuse it? For example, purchase $20 in select pens and receive 20 GC. Now you have people trying to use coupon on that. Or buying cases of water and using coupon? I think you're going to attract attention to yourself when you pick up 10 cases of water at the OD B&M.

I picked up 2 orders yesterday with no problems and nobody even asked for the coupon. In fact in the first order, I had a 12 pack of pens to get over $30 and the lady said they were out but she knew I just wanted something to get over $30 so she just took the first box of pens she could find and gave them to me. I think the barcoded coupon thing is just one of those YMMV deals.

Mananger at my OD said that corporate is now requiring physical coupon...trying to get around it to get my last deal from OD.

I guess YMMV. I just used 15 off 30 coupon for ms blue wireless optical mouse and ordered for pickup. nobody asked for coupon. however, the discount was from a referral code entered on the site, so maybe that's different from regular coupon codes you enter manually at checkout.

Must be YMMV. Mine stinks. They have shot down 3 orders saying the codes were from catalogs or something and wanted it. The coupon sites need to post details about coupons.

it depends on the manager. I used 25 Off 75 and was shoot down by one store manager. but then I used the 15 off 30 a few days later and another manager OKed it..

I got the same thing on one of my order, but next day when the drivers came back, he seemed to forget about the coupon stuff. . I guess your driver might have 100 cases of water on the truck and he was pissed off to deliver those heavy water...

I went to OD (BandM) yesterday and I got denied my water purchase. They told me that some websites are giving out coupons on the internet for 15 dollars off 30 dollar purchase and I would need to bring in the actual coupon. Now who would do such a thing like post coupons on the internet? Anyway, I then went home and phoned in an order for my water to be delivered to my house. I asked the customer service lady about leaving a coupon for the driver and she said I didn't have to worry about it!

I ordered the pny memory this morning with the coupon and picked it up during lunch. No problems.

I used a $15 off $30 coupon just yesterday @ OD and did in store pick up. No coupon bar code was asked of me.
