Odd one... toddler's bedding lights up?

So we got our two year old new bed sheets/comforter for Christmas. We just washed and dried it tonight and my wife noticed that when our daughter moves around in bed the sheets create a quick light. We checked and there are definitely not lights in the bedding so I assume it's something to do with the friction/static electricity? If we turn off the lights and then rub the comforter together (the side that has the characters on it) then we can create the light. Kind of like if you ever tore apart bandaids with the lights off and seeing it light up a little as a kid.

Anyone heard of this? My wife is freaking out thinking the bed is going to catch on fire...

I guess not! Maybe living in Florida with a lot of humidity has something to do with that.. who knows. Her bedding is also 100% polyester, which I'm not sure her last set was.
