I think one of many reasons LBJ turned down running again was because with so many conspiracy theories surrounding the JFK assignation he did not want the finger pointed at him with some saying it cleared the way for him to be president. Plus the country was in cultural tumult and Vietnam was turning into a mess.

It was time for Nixon.
It was NEVER time for Nixon…

He did it. Biden's out for 2024.

Shows how he had the right stuff for office; a man who can step away from power has the temperament to wield it.

Now a more clear headed Dem will run against the demented narcissist, convicted felon and rapist pushing Project 2025 and further destruction of our institutions. Trump just inherited the age and mental health issue, in addition to having the worst record of any 'president.' Works for me.

Support the SCOTUS plan any time now Kamala Harris, remind people exactly what is at stake here. Wouldn't hurt to mention Ukraine either.

Gawd-dammit! I always said I’d vote for the crackwhore on the corner before I’d for Trump…I guess that means…
Kamala Harris for President 2024!

(makes me shudder just typing that…but, IMO, she doesn’t stand a chance.)

She gains all the people that were thinking of not voting at all

A problem with getting presidents to step down is that there is no incentive for them to do so. This is true at multiple layers of official representation, not just the presidency. Look at the stress created when Dianne Feinstein’s handlers cemented her into office. The seniority was just too valuable to give up. Nancy Pelosi is 84 years old, to name a current example. Congress is full of walking talking shambling mummies who are either selfishly enamored of their own power or who egotistically believe nobody else could serve the public in the position better than they do (or some of both), and who will have to be dragged out of office fucking kicking and screaming.
Those 2 do something Biden didn't - they refuse to do debates.

They know it’s not, they probably just (most likely correctly) think they can sow chaos by judge shopping for someone willing to Calvinball their way to such a ruling.
If this works, Biden should come out and say the judges are acting illegally and jail them. Use the powers just granted to him. The judicial coup must end.

Actually, I think it’s not that clear cut. I think she’ll turn away many people who were on the fence about voting for Biden for a second term.

What is he wrong about? Trump gaffes and doesn't form coherent sentences more than Biden. Just watch his rallies and speeches. His father had dementia, so there is no reason to doubt that it's not setting in due to the evidence that's right in front of your fucking face. Trump is is almost 80. Trump could drop dead any minute. Trump lives on fast food garbage and rage. While he has doctors tell him he's the healthiest person on the planet. Biden is in much better physical and mental shape than Trump. Trump is a mentally ill narcissist who has no moral code. Narcissists only think of themselves and don't listen to reason and peers. A heavily flawed trait if you want to be President.

What the fuck? did you just crawl out from under a rock?
See below for pudding and a good laugh, and that's someone without old age problems.

Trump word salads are cherry-picked and many claims of serious dementia amount to he said something they didn't like or thought was stupid over a comedic bit. I didn't care to say anything over the years because nobody knows how fast, slow or stable the decline of either will be, and I was always of the opinion that both had cognitive decline, which is obvious if you compare 90s or earlier Trump/Biden with 2020-24 Trump/Biden. Over four years ago saying Trump had "accelerating dementia" while Biden is fine is a bit rich to be criticizing Greenman though, and he continued this (Biden is fine, Trump has advanced dementia) up to the debate.

It'll be interesting to see if Trump has a bit of a meltdown if black woman throws some shade his way!

My wife said, the Democrats did the right thing again, not like the Republicans. They said the guy at the top is a problem and they stood up and told him that he needs to step aside. Something the Republicans did not do.
and where does this "high road" get us?
I know it's the right thing to do, but when they other side uses every trick in the book - legal and not legal - it makes it hard to get ahead.

If they don't galvanize behind Kamala immediately that is a huge mistake.
I wish they would have been parading her around for the last few months. Even with Joe staying in at that point, it would have assured people that if Joe can't finish the term, that there was a strong VP behind him. Then at this point, we'd have 2+ months of Harris already campaigning and in front of people.

This senile motherfucker should have bowed out at the start of the year so we could have had a real primary. Now we're stuck with Harris and Trump's going to win.

The shenanigans the elites have pulled in the past primary and perhaps in 2016 has come back to bite them in the ass insofar as you loved the shit out of Biden.
Now we'll see who is the pick to be Kamala's VP.

As least mental cognitive decline is not a point that can be used to make fun of the Democratic nominee now.

Harris' political negatives seem to be local politics in California. California isn't going for Trump and local politics don't generally get carried into the national spotlight. Being a woman is going to hurt her nationally because there are a MFT of misogynists in America.

not looking great, but we've got a "puncher's chance" if we get the right white male onto the ticket. Thankfully there are some options there.

Wow, was not expecting Biden to voluntarily step down. At all.
The dam finally failed this past week, so it was no longer his choice. He could have refused to step aside, but with the near total revolt in place, that means he'd not only lose the election, he'd burn the whole house down in the process. We would have lost the Senate as well (still could happen), and the House is still nearly a 50/50. His legacy would have been toast if that happened. (In effect, it's not really voluntary.)

Who are already voting for the orange monkey. So that’s a moot point.

Trump's head is mostly oatmeal at this point, but even when it wasn't he wouldn't be able to handle Kamala Harris in a debate.

Strong women enrage this low IQ poser, and even worse, this woman is brown. Being senile probably won't be helping him deal with that either, oh he'll get so pissed she doesn't know her place and won't be intimidated by him (or the smell).

Trump will spew a variety of nonsensical anecdotes and try to run out the clock while he silently rageshits himself. Kamala will calmly eviscerate him, with the cold, unimpressed yet resigned look you'd expect from an intern asked to pick up dogshit for the boss.

America will give a resounding No Thanks to Team Treason in November. Trump can't handle economies, emergencies or national security and no one wants to lose anymore rights. There is no SCOTUS repair during another Trump infection, which matters a lot to several million newly registered GenZs.
