Will @eelw @Indus and @dank69 be needing anything I can provide? Prozac?I can find some opiates in the city and send them? Suicide hotline? Maybe a fruit basket? I just want to help
You got your wish and I have said for a while now I have no problem with this decision. I don't know if it's right or wrong. Not sure why you're tap dancing, if Kamala does lose you're going to look like a fucking idiot. Just saying. Hope you're right that she wins and wins big though.

Much as we love the idea of sticking it to the Rs, Biden is just not that kind of man.
Plus, having immunity DOES NOT equal having the authority. Of having such an order obeyed by the multiple people required to act.
Chain of command Bro, chain of command. You think the military wants Trump in there selling our national secrets to the highest bidders?

Hey if all else fails and Trump is elected, Biden can throw all of them in jail during lame duck. I certainly wouldn't lift a finger to stop him.
AFAIK, we're not yet a nation where the president can just throw people in jail. There would have to be indictments, convictions, appeals, which could go eventually to the SCROTUS. Which takes plenty of time all in all. And you don't know how the SCROTUS will rule on anything.

Trouble is the SCROTUS will interpret their rulings any way they see fit. I don't trust them as constituted one iota concerning anything. I mean, them throwing out immunity without even considering it seemed a slam dunk, but no.

Even if Harris loses, it doesn't mean that it was a bad decision. Biden would lose 100% IMO.

That would be wrong but there's nothing wrong, in my opinion, with adapting to change. The question I puzzle over is whether Harris is the best choice to win. Now that Biden is out what's wrong with asking who would be willing to run now, I think Mrs. Obama should be asked to run for the good of the Nation since the public would vote for her over all others.

Two days before Obama announced against Clinton I emailed and pleaded with him to run for the same reason. In my opinion there is no doubt she would win which is not as true for anybody else.
Why should Michelle Obama be nominated for president? She's not a politician, has no experience in government, and was never elected to anything. It makes no sense to nominate her unless she'd have won the primary. It makes sense to select a candidate that was already elected to some position - the VP, or a senator or governor from a swing state.

this is science fiction.

*******************

the only input i can provide is, i hope to god that the dems don't try to go with Kamala. poll after poll after poll has shown that women voters *do not* want a woman president. With Kamala running i predict a landslide 60% Trump 25% Kamala 15%+ other parties.
He admitted as much in his post. Geez!

Wow, just got the news myself. I've mostly stayed away from politics since the debate.

I'm glad Joe finally stepped down (or was forced to) but he should have made it clear after he was elected in 2020.

How many business owners out there, when looking to hire someone for a 4-year contract (let alone 8), would be considering 82 year old people? 72? It's ridiculous to be electing 70+ year old people IMO, mainly because they are likely to lose the perspective of when it's actually time to step down (like Feinstein). And it's not like being the President isn't just a tad busy and stressful, aka not your typical retiree job down at the supermarket....

We have a minimum age for POTUS, I don't see why there can't be a maximum. Anyway, it's now moot for a while at least. Now Trump is the old man in the election.

Maybe it's good that there's only 4 months, less time for the GOP conspiracy slandering machine to plant seeds in the so-called independents.

Just fucking around. All I knew is Biden is seriously dragging the Democrats backwards. And while I would prefer a different candidate over Kamala overall, she's the only choice right now and I have enough faith that she can win. And that's the attitude every one of us needs, and spread that vibe, especially to fearful Democrats. You have to be confident, sell Kamala, she is actually qualified.

So take a couple days to mourn, and vent here on these forums, but outside, fucking team Kamala 2024. Let's go kick Trump's ass.

God Damn Inmates at the local insane asylum talking about what makes sense. Get her to run and watch her win by a landslide. Then worry about her fucking lack of experience which will not mean jack shit anyway. She will be surrounded by both political and professional experts. There is only one issue and it's that she does not want the job. But nobody who wants that job should ever have it unless is it forced on them by duty to country.

People bring up Michelle Obama as a wishcasting mechanism. Someone who's positions they don't really understand, but has name recognition that they can transpose their hopes and dreams onto, without having to face any sort of reality.

Moonbeam is excellent when it comes to not living in reality. Look at his support for housing policies that exacerbate homelessness.

Fuck off! It's doom and gloom and throwing shade for me from now on. Good for the Goose, good for the Moonbeam. Harris was the choice of an old incompetent boob that should have never run which means she's as worthless as his judgment proved to be. Everything Biden touched has turned to shit as it was created by the same. Biden running will make us lose, remember, so anything he touched will do the same. Incompetent is as incompetent does. Get her out of there or we're all doomed.

No trouble, he can jail SCROTUS as well, all 6 of them and appoint 6 sane people. Jail any Republican Senators blocking those appointments as well. Clear sailing. Sky's the limit. Future of American democracy is on the line and they've proven to be enemies of democracy.

I'm surprised people keep bringing up Michelle Obama as a possible candidate for office.

She's been very upfront about her distaste for D.C, about how she abhors the vileness of partisan politics. She was subjected to a lot of it when her husband becoming PoTUS caused right wingers heads to explode. It's only gotten worse since The Fuckening of 2016. Far as I know, she considers her time as First Lady service enough to the country and I don't blame her one bit. Could she do the job? Sure. Would she want to? I'm pretty sure the answer is a resounding "Hell no."

I didn't choose the name Moonbeam because I have any respect at all as to what most people call reality. Your reality is limited by your opinion as to what reality is and as it happens your opinion is worthless. Not your fault though. You never had a chance to see a way out having never noticed you are a prisoner of your own beliefs. You were never forced to face the fact that you know nothing and everything you hold dear, your delusions of what is real, are only your worthless opinions. I wasn't so lucky. My wounds were too deep to repress. To what I can attribute my good fortune, I have no idea.

The truth shall set you free.

Not a bad rant overall, I'd give it a 7.2. I had to shave a point for starting with fuck off, that should traditionally be at the end. If you're going to break new ground at the beginning of a rant you should have something special for the end. Style points are important.

Too fucking late for SCOTUS. The dye is cast and the Rubicon has been crossed. They are hoist on their own petard. The goose is cooked and the chickens can come home to roost. For wont of a nail....... and al that. SCOTUS gave license to the monsters of the Id.

In my many years of searching for and trying to gather some wisdom I ran across one piece of knowledge that comes to mind very frequently. It is this: Try to please others and someone will be offended. Try to please yourself and somebody will be offended. Perhaps you can see which option I chose. Thanks for the 7.2 It will do.

PS: Freedom does not set you free it is total enslavement. Your only option is to do what is right.

Slaves are the only ones who are free because they can think and do anything they please.

You have to be mad that Trump tried to end American democracy though, right?

After all you agreed he did.

I would assume you would never vote for someone who basically tried to end America, right?

Actually I'm not mad about that. If he gets a second shot I hope he bows out with a little grace at the end of his run. If not I'm sure the keystone cops will haul him out of the white house kicking and screaming.
