Here is an 83 year old Ronald Reagan 5 years after leaving the Presidency behind. They questioned his mental fitness at times during his Presidency due to age. Reagan was more than a year older than Biden when he gave his final public speech in 1994.

One could interpret this as "There is no one else in the entire country fit to be President. Not a soul."

Or one could interpret it as they believe no one has a better chance to beat Biden.

I'll leave it to you to decide which one is closer to reality, and which one is a really poorly constructed straw man.

Well, that's interesting because there were a few here who were confident the orange shitstain had the cognitive problem
He does have a cognitive problem. Talking fast isn't indicative of strong mental health, and in some cases can actually be an indicator of mental decline. That said, his inability to coherently delivery information and stay on a subject is the main reason why he gets called out.

A habitual Adderall snorter, talking fast?

Unpossible!

I mean sure he isn't as good as when he was younger but he still looked and talked like someone that could do another 4. Cognitive problems are really weird though. It can happen rapidly and can also be bad but stable for many years while others fall apart completely in a short period.

Anything to distract from policy being the central focus. Carry on making society worse for everyone, yourself included.

Another big gap between Biden and the D senate candidate. Voters seem to wanna vote for Democrats but they don't wanna re-elect Biden specifically. I assume the Biden position on this is that Ds will come home closer to the election (probable) and that there is some kind of systemic polling error that favors them (unknowable).

Might be years of everyone blaming Biden for inflation going unfactchecked in the media.

Imagine if the candidate himself was capable of going forth, commanding an audience, and speaking of policy to drive home the campaign.

Biden got left holding the bag for COVID.
Incumbency is a terrible wound in this case. Nobody likes today's prices. Everybody looks to blame today's leaders for it.

Neither candidate is capable of this and Americans are not especially thrilled with that fact.

I am genuinely curious if you dropped a candidate into either side who was capable of campaigning conventionally what would happen.

I wish it were 1984 again. Life was much simpler back then. 🙂‍↔️

No political correctness, no social media, everything was regional and not everything was known to everyone immediately beyond what the "news" curated for your consumption.

It would reset the election dramatically to that sides favor.

half of Dems didn't even want Biden to run again, but Biden streamrolled over all of us and made sure the primary was just a formality. That is insulting. That is being an elite, ignoring the wishes of half your party because he alone fixed Covid and is the only one who can win. This whole election cycle has been a disaster by the Dems. So we lost that opportunity.

We have now been given this opportunity to fix that mistake and put in someone who can actually campaign and engage and handle a goddamn non-scripted event. But we have a giant ego and people denying reality killing this lucky opportunity. It's just terribly sad.

We are blessed that Trump is the nominee again this year. And we are fumbling the ball by basically putting forth a candidate with tons of baggage, valid concerns abot his health, in the shitter approval ratings, and that people didn't want to run again at all. Imagine choosing that guy. What an election fumble. Right now this contest shouldn't be very close. It's ONLY close because Biden is such a bad candidate.

I’d love to see Biden step down. Please tell us who the Dems could put forward that would stand a chance of beating Trump. No fckn liberals…most of the USA opposes the “librul agenda.” A good centrist Democrat please.

I don't care about the age problem but others do. If you read my previous comment, I don't think they should go with Harris or anyone else.

I guess Obama gave us a hint of that.
I get that his opponent wasn't Trump but I think that he'd absolutely destroy Trump in debating or in media interviews.

Imagine thinking elections are just about policy. It's just a bunch of rational people making rational decisions. The candidate and campaign are just a background thing.

If so Dems would have won every election in the last 60 years. From the Federal level to most state and local levels.

These people are clueless that candidates and campaigns also matter. They simply don't exist in the actual political world we live in. They should be the last people whose opinions we should consider about this race. Maybe we should just stop having a candidate, the Dems can just put forth their policy reviews and a policy paper.

Great orator but IIRC, Obama lost the first debate against Mitt Romney.

Changed my vote down to 10%. Dems are falling in line with Biden, for better or worse.

Regarding Trump, has he ever exhibited the ability to remain silent this long? Is he actually following rational advice, or has he had a medical incident?

Liberal policies are generally popular (reproductive rights, health care quality/access, clean air and water, separation of church and state, etc). Which parts of "the librul agenda" are you thinking of?
