All we had to do to beat Trump, A shitty candidate, was put pretty much any decent candidate in there under 60 years old, that could speak without looking like the crypt keeper, and not stumble around, and literally can't handle live questions. And a straight white guy not from the coasts as VP. That's all we had to do.

Biden is the biggest gift we could have given Trump this election cycle. Shitty numbers matching some of the lowest historic levels. We took an 80 to 90% chance of beating Trump and turn it into now maybe even a little less than coin flip odds.

Trump is running in a bid to stay out of prison and stay in the limelight, to make money. He got close to broke, still heavily in debt. Biden has nothing to do with it other than a history of making him look like a loser. There is no scenario where Trump doesn't run however, none. They cleared a way for him. You don't get the SCROTUS to ignore insurrections and their duty to uphold the 14th Amendment, then declare a convicted felon, rapist, fraud and traitor immune from prosecution...just to have that person walk away from it all. That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works.

Biden saw these polls from his party and dem leaning voters, then decided to screw them and run and prevent a primary, and then now blames this fiasco on the elites. When half your party didn't want you to run again, let alone the majority of Dem leaning independents, you look at that and say, yes, I have a mandate to run. Poll after poll said the same. You completely misunderstood his statement.
He's not saying Trump is running only because of Biden (in fact, it's Biden who claims he's running because of Trump). What he's saying is that this is a close race only because Joe Biden is running again.* Obviously, that's debatable.
I don't agree, but he's one who thinks Dems have an incredibly "deep bench" and a number of other candidates would be leading the race today. Knowing what we know about politics and polarization, that seems unlikely. It is incredibly unlikely that Kamala Harris, specifically, would be dominating a race against DJT but that's just my humble opinion.
* Not just close, but one where we're probably trailing right now by 1 or 2 points "nationally."
