This is the decision of a lifetime and nothing I have seen from Kamala Harris since 2020 makes me think that all of a sudden she will carry the blue wall. She is simply not liked. Having said that, Biden has lagged in the polls for a long time and it's hard to argue with a straight face that he isn't mired in a trailing campaign. And more importantly, one that he can't credibly fix because his age is not fixable. The absolute best he could do is to be perfect in public appearances, but yesterday he proved that bar is just too high to clear. More importantly, elected Dems fear is contagious and he's losing internal support rapidly. I don't think it's up to Joe Biden anymore whether he stays or steps aside. It still feels close to a 50/50 but IMHO it depends on whether he can avoid the dam breaking. If the most senior elected Dems (and Barack Obama) press down on the scales, it doesn't matter what Joe and Jill want anymore.
