I don't need the damn thing either...have absolutely no use for it...but damn, I want it because it's cheap. I only have one PC left in the house that I could upgrade and it really doesn't need to be upgraded (Athlon 64 3200 single core on 754 board). I would need new memory, motherboard and this chip. I already have 2GB of memory...now just need a board....wait...I haven't bought this....yet!!!

Lol....i hear you 100% Engineer

But my parents pc is running an old Socket A Sempron @ 1.49GHz and is getting pretty slow doing multiple things.....even my mom is complaining about how slow it is!

They should love a dual-core cpu with 2GB of DDR2

$5.00 PriceGrabber Bonus rebate - for OEM (Yes OEM) BE-2400 chips.

Hot...hot...hot...OK, I bought one!

"Restrictions: Please read actual rebate form for more details and conditions. Does not apply towards refurbished, open box, white box, OEM and generic items."

Still a very hot deal for 24.99!

The form stated that it was exclusively for the OEM version. Someone on SlickDeals stated that it will work (from experience). I think it's dead however (limit reached).

It did. I have a copy. If I don't get it, still a good deal at $23.xx after cashback.

Exactly...considering an Intel Dual-Core Celeron 1.6GHz E1200 is twice the price and is much slower than this AMD cpu

Me, too! I have the x2 6000+ running in my machine, but I like the idea of having this chip running cool. Did I need it? NO! Did I buy it? YES! Do I need to buy another AM2 mobo? Maybe! Do I buy a mobo in a combo deal with another CPU? Maybe! Gosh..., I think this habit is getting almost as expensive as drugs, gambling and fast girls! Sigh..., my wife is gonna kick my ass.

By the way, if you buy the OCZ Vanquisher cooler and the ECS 740G board from ZipZoomFly, you'll save on shipping. If you use MS Livecash (5% for ZZF), the total after rebates, cashback, shipping and two stamps (for rebates) should be around $52.66. Not bad for a 740G board (not greatest but not bad with build in video) and decent cooler.

seems like one of the better bang for the buck choices for this is the 780V if you want to use a normal machine.

looks like the 780V and 780G are the same except the 780V doesnt have UVD and hybrid graphics etc. but its still got the same video chip and is $20 cheaper most place.s

$53 shipped at newegg!

780V integrates HD3100 while 780G integrates HD3200, FYI!

a few days ago Amazon was selling the ECS 740G for $40 shipped, no rebate. Then they raised the price to $59.

yeah i think the main difference is the 780v is 400mhz, the 780g is 500mhz and the 790g i slike 700mhz.

that and the 780v doesnt have all the blu-ray stuff turned on.
