Got mine today, seems mine wont go over 220 at 11.5 multiplier and stock voltage, but was able to get up to 240x11 = 2.64 ghz.

I may mess around with voltage a little to see what I can squeeze out of it , but out of time for now.

I'm using an Asus M2A-VM board and a FAR CoolerMaster HSF with it. Got the board from Newegg as well. Rock solid combo.

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H and an AMD retail HSF (from previous CPU) here.

I have had no problems with getting CB from Live using the coupon.

The use of ANY coupons will invalidate your MS Live CashBack. Everyone should know that fact by now.

Jeez, I jumped on this 2 weeks ago and I may do it again. I still have some ram sticks and coolers and cases and 120 & 160gb hds layin around. This cpu plus that $50 Jetway board... I won't be posting any cpumark scores with it but it's still tempting.

When the price went up, I bought a combo deal which gave it to me for $30 essentially. It will replace another computer which I bought on a closeout deal similar to this back when they were selling single core Athlon 64 3000+ with 745 motherboards. I hope my 754 heatsink works on this board. Thermaltake's website says the Venus 12 will but maybe they have revised it since I bought it 4+ years ago.

I really want to get this processor for an HTPC, but I need a processor that can decode video formats that my motherboard doesn't: .MKV, x.264, etc, as well as upscale DVDs.

Any reviews to indicate whether this processor has that power? I'm having trouble finding info.

Thanks

how does that fan compare to this one???

http://3btech.net/amdat64coplc.html

Is it worth the extra $3.00 + tax too???

just looked and with shipping the "circuitcity thermaltake TR2-R1" is almost twice as much.

oh well i was just looking for the cheapest solution possible.

i took a few pics of stock AMD cooler, TR2-R1 and X2 6400+ heatpipe cooler

honestly if not overclock there is no need for better heatsink.

but TR2-R1 is very quiet, i have to open the case to make sure fan still spinning.

I believe (I have always thought this) that playback of WMV and h264 had near full decode on the Radeon 3200 integrated video card. As for other formats, I would imagine this CPU would be fast enough to decode normal HD bit rates but I am sure it will be choppy when you fast foward or rewind.

I have never tried to upscale a DVD but it is hard to believe that it can require that much power if cheap DVD players can do it.

What mobos are you guys using for your overclocks? I got that be2400 sitting in my room, but can't justify paying more than $40 for a mobo after picking up that e7200 combo from frys for 100 bucks.

I have absolutely nothing to put this in...but for 24.99!?!?!

Any *super* cheap AM2 boards out there that takes this CPU?
