Bad News from RR:

Person 1: Ordered an SAPPHIRE Radeon 9500 Atlantis 128mb card. I was excited when I saw the picture showing the board that can be hacked into 9700. And was 1 dollar cheaper than www.newegg.com.

And suppose to arrive within 7 days using ups ground. And in 3 days I found I only recived the power connection and a Sapphire pen in FED EXPRESS 2 days mail. I thought thats all they sent me. But turned out they forgot to add that. And sent it really fast.

When I recived the rest of the stuff including video card. I was sad cause I got the newer model which cant be hacked into 9700 but can be hacked into 9500 pro

Would order from them again thorugh.

Person 2: I ordered an ATI Radeon 9500 128 MB video card with hopes of converting it into the 9700, since the card pictured was the one built on the 9700 PCB. There was a disclaimer that a newer version may be shipped.

The card that was shipped was in fact the newer version that would not be able to be completely converted. Allstarshop approved an RMA for my purchase and even waived the restock fee with absolutely no hassle.

I cancelled the RMA and decided to keep the card, just because of the good business practices of Allstarshops.com

Allstarshop has earned my commendment for their excellant customer services practices.

I don't mean to crap on this thread...however, I strongly advise you do not try to buy this card from BuyXtremeGear!

I tried to purchase this exact card from them more than a week ago. It was out of stock, but they never returned my emails and rarely answered the phone. I finally got to a human after more than a week to cancel my order and even then it took 4 days for them to credit back my credit card.

Their customer service is non-existent because I think they are highly undermanned. Just check out the reseller ratings -- there are many recent 'Very Dissatisfied' comments including mine.

There is a guy right now on eBay selling ATI 9500 Pro's (retail box) on eBay for $165 with "Buy-It-Now" I just picked one up myself. He currently has a couple others available. I'm not sure if eBay links are bad here or not, can't remember sorry...

Because people at resellerratings were saying that they were getting the new black ones, but it must have been from a while ago. I called to verify that it actually was the red pcb, and I just ordered one! $168 with FREE SHIPPING

I ordered a non-pro 128M from buymstar on 02/14, and just got it this afternoon. It's the old red PCB with L-shape memory. I found it through pricewatch. Pretty scared by it rating score on RR. I made a couple of calls before I placed the order to make sure they are selling the one I want. It's shipped by fedex ground, a little slow. But so far I am pretty happy. Just softmod it and 3d mark shows 13499, compared to original 11xxx. It's still on stock now. Good luck!

I assume it is the hackable version. I heard that the red pcb one that's not hackable is extremely rare, and the non-hackable ones are usually on a black pcb. I ordered at about 2 this afternoon, and checked my email a few hours later to find that it already shipped! I had never heard of Allstarshop before but they have higher RR than newegg. This rocks.

I ordered one of these for my friends system on the 13th, supposedly it was backordered until the 17th. Today I get an e-mail saying it will be backordered til the 25th.

CC was charged on the 13th. I'm not very happy with these guys right now.:|

Nope not hot at all for either card, if thats your price range you can should get a radeon 8500/9100 or spend a lil more and get a geforce 4 4200.

It's interesting that Allstarshop has added the following warning to it's listing (in red letters)

Note: Allstarshop.com does NOT guarantee that this Sapphire RADEON 9500 ATLANTIS 128MB DDR AGP8X (Red PCB) graphic card can be modified (Software Mod or Hardware Mod) to 9700. In fact, overclocking the device or modifying the device driver of the video card may crash your system and/or damage this video card. Some customers confirmed their RADEON 9500 128MB video card in red board could NOT be turned to 9700.

The one I ordered should be shipped today.
