I can't cut my 900 CD collection down to just five (10? Maybe.), so I'm not gonna play, but it's been interesting to see what some others have been chosing. Some very cool choices and some that are so pathetic, it makes me sad to know people have such atrocious and narrow tastes. Whatever.
3615buck: I thought I was one of eight people in America who had even heard of the Housemartins! I don't like "Now that's..." because the B-sides drag down the show. I prefer "London 0, Hull 4" and "The People Who Grinned Themselves To Death" far more.
Aw, what the heck...here's five of the better ones:
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique (The Sgt. Pepper of Generation X)
Ramones - Ramonesmania (30 great songs, no waiting. The punk Beatles)
Yes - 90125 (Trevor Horn is a god)
U2 - Achtung Baby! (Thought they'd lost their minds, at first)
Barenaked Ladies - Gordon (They haven't been this brilliant since)
If I could have five more:
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes (She started off so well...)
Crowded House - S/T (They should've quit after their first)
10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe (Better than any of Natalie Merchant's solo crap)
The Pixies - Trompe le Monde (Best of all their great records)
Kirstie MacColl - Kite (Saw her in a club with a hundred people at the same time the Crapberries were selling millions. Sad, considering how great she is.)
Naw...I need a Top 20 list.
